Can someone edit an author's response to a question?

Hi There!

I just submitted an answer to an "Ask The Author" question and see a minor typo that could be construed as offensive. I wanted to say that horror fans are simply the best but instead it reads that "horror fans are simple THE BEST."

Can anyone change the word simple to simply? (darn that spell check demon! ;-)

I read that you grew up in a haunted house!? Is that why you write horror movies (and books, I guess)?
