Yes :). Book name, author, item collected, and date finished reading, is generally how people have been notating their tally sheets.

Welcome to the hunt, Aidan! Please add two new items for everyone else to collect too :)

Julia | 59 comments I really should check in more often! It's hard, what with needing to write a (brief) novel about a fried chicken eating, apron-wearing person throwing a coffee cup at a rattlesnake to the soulful tootling of Kenny G's sax. :-)

OK, let's see what I've got now:
1. robin Terry Pratchett's Snuff (finished 3/27/2014)
2. piano in Alan Bradley's The Dead in their Hallowed Arches (finished March 4, 2014)
3. Newspaper Wallace Stegner's Angle of Repose (finished 3 March 2014)
4. Hospital in Haruki Murakami's Kafka on the Shore (which I'm not finishing -- can I keep the find?)
5. opium Pearl Buck's the Good Earth (finished 1/21/2014)
6. rattlesnake
7. Rainbow Wallace Stegner's Angle of Repose (finished 3 March 2014)
8. Grandmother Wallace Stegner's Angle of Repose (finished 3 March 2014)
9. Prison (Fresnes prison) mentioned in Cara Black's Murder in the Sentier (finished March 1, 2014)
10. interpreter Cara Black's Murder in Belleville (still in progress)
11. Quilt Pearl Buck's the Good Earth (finished 1/21/2014)
12. museum Jardin des Plantes in Rebecca Stott's Coral Thief, need to check the date but within March anyways
13. broken coffee cup
14. goblet from Samantha Shannon's The Bone Season (finished Feb 12 2014)
15. saxophone
16. canoe Swiss Family Robinson (in progress March 31, 2014)
17. China Pearl Buck's the Good Earth (finished 1/21/2014)
18. porcelain Peter Carey's Chemistry of Tears (March 30, 2014 completion)
19.) (Miranda) a kitchen apron Sue Monk Kidd's Invention of Wings (finished 4/20/2014)
20.) (Miranda) a bumblebee
21.) (Kyle) Buckler (small shield)
22.) (Kyle) Treasure
23.) (Amy) a smoking pipe (tobacco, etc...) Stella Rimington's Illegal Action (finished 27 April 2014)
24.) (Amy) a metal pipe (lead pipe, plumbing pipe, etc...) Lian Tanner's City of Liars (finished 26 April 2014)
25.) (caallas) fried chicken
26.) (caallas) a paintbrush Stella Rimington's Illegal Action (finished 27 April 2014)

Sorry, Aidan, I'm not clear. To clarify, are you asking if you should enter the book name when you 'collect' an item, and you cross it off your list? (If so, then yes :) ).

Or, are you asking if you should add a book name when you put forward two new items for the group to also collect? (If that, then no :) )

But how do would you know which book to look for it in?

message 110: by MK (new)

MK (wisny) | 2579 comments Aidan wrote: "But how do would you know which book to look for it in? "

Ohhhhh, it can be any book that you read in 2014. If you look back at others' tally sheets, you will see the various scavenger hunters have collected the items in different books. As you read, you notice details in your book, and when they correspond to one of the items on one of the Scavenger Hunt BOARDS, you 'collect' it, by noting it on your own sheet. :)

1. Mirror
2. Tattoo

message 116: by AC (new)

AC (spooktun3) | 28 comments Wait a second... Am I supposed to state that I have found something from another hunter's list?

Lol still lost :P

message 117: by MK (new)

MK (wisny) | 2579 comments Okay, I can help. Yes, first you go to post #1 in this thread. Copy/paste it into your own post. That will be your tally sheet to work off of.

As you read, you edit your post, adding in new items 'collected', and crossing them off, as you go.

If you give us two new items to collect, I will add your items to the tally sheet in post #1, and everyone who is playing, will also add them to their tally sheet. All the hunters collect all the items. Each of the hunters added two new items to the list. Some members who aren't hunting also contributed two items to the tally sheet, so the hunters would have a varied and interesting list of items to collect. :)
