Tamahome | 18 comments tl;dr -- She writes Amazon fan fiction for Vampire Diaries, and will submit her own planned ending for the series.

Margo - Putting the Mmmmmm back in Menage | 40 comments Where is the love button? Many publishing companies treat their authors like commodities which is why I love the rise of self publishing. Good for L.J. Smith for finding a way around their poor treatment of her.

S H A R O N (ishari) | 21 comments I must be living under a rock because I had no idea L.J. Smith had been ousted like that! While I haven't kept up with The Vampire Diaries beyond the first few books, The Forbidden Game Trilogy is one of my favorite book series from my middle/high school years:

The Hunter (The Forbidden Game, #1) by L.J. Smith , The Chase (The Forbidden Game, #2) by L.J. Smith , The Kill (The Forbidden Game, #3) by L.J. Smith

Glad to see she's doing what she can to get her version of the TVD endgame published.

Heather Finley (heatherfinley) | 49 comments She wasn't fired. It was a contract she signed when she first started writing that gave up her rights to the characters and series. Same thing happened to Secret Circle. As far as I know that is the only two of her series she signed off.

Still it is sad that because of a contract made in her starting days as an author she has been unable to write within her own world. Very happy she is back at it. I have a kitsune fox tattoo based on the book series so clearly I'm a huge fan.

V.M. Black (vmblack) | 23 comments Too cool!

And signing a contract to turn your own world into work-for-hire--ROUGH. :( I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Let's hope she never gives up her rights to the Night World series or Strange Fate will never get finished.

Still, at least she's giving Alloy the ol' "fuck you" with her fanfic of her own work.
