Part 2: (view spoiler)[ Darrow is starting to annoy me. Also, I find it disappointing that Eo was killed just so the plot can be set. I wish that she would have been saved and helped Darrow with this mission would have been way better. This is now getting into the Hunger Games territory with the mission. I do not like how he is so full of himself. There was not much happening in this part so far.

I was sad to hear about Roque and Lea. I wonder if he is actually dead. It was sad to see Cassius's reaction to the news that Darrow killed Julian. This is becomibg more interesting. I am finding a way to see through Darrow's attitude and accept that they are his flaws. (hide spoiler)]

Ending Thoughts: (view spoiler)[ I have to say that this read was a surprise to me. I really enjoyed Part 1. Thought Part 2 was boring and Hunger Games like. Then i started to enjoy the book more. However, it did not blow me away. It improved as the book went into Part 3. I hope that it will continue to improve for the rest of the trilogy. Can't wait to read the next 2 books. 5% (view spoiler)[I am really liking this so far. I love the story specific terms and slang. The world building thus far is just wonderful. I like that we've gotten a little bit of backstory about Darrow's father's death, and his friendship with Eo as children. I also liked the broadcast from the Sovereign. It clearly shows the expectations of the oppressors and what they tell the serving class that Darrow belongs to. I have to admit, even though the main character is a teenager, so far this feels like something beyond YA. The main character is married at sixteen, and he carried himself like an adult. Even the writing feels more like an adult novel. (hide spoiler)]

I honestly shouldn't have been surprised that Eo died. Something had to happen to give the main character drive, and this certainly fits the bill.

It would suck to wake up in a shallow grave. I suspected something was going to happen when Narol made him drink so much before he "died".

Would you not put up more of a fuss when two people in masks happen along and pick you up after you wake up in a shallow grave? I would have been reluctant, but Darrow seems to accept it fairly easily.

I liked getting more of a backstory for how things came to be the way that they are. Darrow's eyes are open and he is ready to avenge his wife's death.

He did not seem to get a long with Harmony at all, but I wonder if maybe she will become a love interest to him in the story. (hide spoiler)]
