Well I've been reading up on women in the middle east and while they have come a long way, their past is strikingly painful. Women didn't have any rights. Some places in the middle east didn't even have birth certificates for women and wouldnt have proper burials Just dump their bodies in a vacant area reserved for the deceased. They were the majority of victim's for honor killings. Being forced into marriages act unthinkable ages to order men. It goes on and on! Very sad. I tell you some of these other countries make me proud to be an American flaws and all!

Oh yeah and as for Abebe's biological mother, guilt in my opinion was definitely a factor. Some people have a way of victimizing themselves in efforts to cover guilt and not having to accept blame.

Wow, yeah. I've read some stories too, it's horrible. I don't know how they can take it.

(view spoiler)[The prologue was well placed because the only thing that keeps me going is knowing that Abebe makes it out of this situation and gives Duma what he deserves.

The grandmother is evil. Why didn't she go to the shrine for the family. The gods don't like old women?

Kwasi is such a weak man. And Lemusi went from being a strong woman to a weak woman. Joseph and Thema disgust me also. What bad could have come from them telling Serwa?

But I'm most disappointed in Serwa. It seems like she only checked one shrine. C'mon! I would never leave my daughter. I'd keep looking until one of the priest killed me. How could I live with myself knowing my daughter was suffering?

Right now, I'm so worried for Abebe, but I'm more worried for Juba.

I felt you're same outrage with that Serwa. I too felt that Joseph and his wife could've have done more. I was outraged with many of the family members especially Grandmother who started all of this mess!
