UPDATE: 4/2/18 Alas, blogging isn't what it used to be and a number of book review sites have gone cold since I first posted this thread. A belated thank you to Jennie for helping me to update this list. If you know of any additional active blogs or websites that review clean romances, please email them to me at jdipastena@yahoo.com. I'm afraid I don't check Goodreads as often as I used to (nose to the grindstone, trying to write new books), but I'll update this list as frequently as I can. I'll find your messages faster though if you email me. :-) Thank you!

*********

I thought I'd start this folder for posting links to blogs or websites that are actually looking for "clean reads" to review.

I'll add to the list as I discover more or as any of you tip me off about new sites. If you are a reviewer of clean romances and would like to be added, let me know. I'll keep updating right here to keep all the sites in one place for easy viewing. :-)

Thanks, everyone, for your support of this Goodreads Group!

Would it be wrong of me to insert my own review blog here? :o)

Romance, Old School

I changed the name recently since what I really LOVE to read are romances and I PREFER that they be clean. I do tend to review everything I read, though...

As long as you review clean romances (especially, since you actually PREFER them), by all means, share your review site with us. If there's anyone else who reviews clean romances, feel free to insert your review site here, too!

Donna Hatch (goodreadscomdonnahatch) | 36 comments I love clean romances and that's one of the reason why I, too, love Lynn Kurland. My only gripe about her books is that she puts in a lot of swear words and her newer ones seem to have more than her older ones. Her fantasies are totally clean, though.

Joyce's book is awesome, and to anyone who hasn't read it yet, I highly recommend it!!

You're so kind, Donna. Mine are medievals, but if you love Regencies, Donna's and Jaimey's are truly awesome, too!

message 7: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jrabbit) | 3 comments I just launched a website where I review and rate books. I created this website as a place for readers to come and get a “rating” on the graphic details contained in novels. I wanted a place where readers could come and pick up a clean romance novel or clean fantasy novel without having to worry that the book is “R” rated. Let me know if you would like me to check someone out.

Do you accept submissions from authors who would like their books reviewed? If so, I'll add it to the list I'm compiling above (as in, just above your last post ;-) ).

Laura | 22 comments Thanks, Joyce for compiling this list and including me! I have looked at the others on the list and I am now following them. I'm sure this list will come in handy for all authors who want to do a blog tour and for when I do my own book blog tour! That's next on my list and you have been a great example of how's it done.

message 13: by Joyce, Group Creator (new)

Thank you, Laura! I can't take the credit, though, my publisher put my blog tour together. I certainly learned a lot from the way she did it, though!

That goes for everyone!
And I love to be interviewed, too, if anyone would like to have me.

I mostly stick to YA a lot, but I am starting to do romance and other genres as well.:) I do author interviews and host giveaways, and blog tours. It's been fun to "meet" so many different authors!:) I love Bloggin Bout' Books, and LDS Women's Book Review as well.

Donna Hatch (goodreadscomdonnahatch) | 36 comments I do reviews of clean romances upon occasion, as well as author interviews. And I also share fun stuff I uncover while I research the Regency Era. If you like Jane Austen or Georgette Heyer, you might find my useless trivia interesting. I always welcome followers.
I don't know how to insert a link here but if you copy and paste this into your web browser, it will take you there:

Donna, do you want me to add your blog to our book review list?

message 41: by Donna (new)

Donna Hatch (goodreadscomdonnahatch) | 36 comments I don't know that I do true book reviews often enough to be added to a book review list, since most of my blog postings are about historical research and author interviews.

message 42: by Julie (new)

Julie Anderson | 3 comments I thoroughly enjoyed Tiger's Curse and Tiger's Quest by Colleen Houck. Actually, for three weeks afterward I couldn't bring myself to read anything else, I kept rereading them. To give that perspective you have to understand that I usually ready about 3 books a week and almost never reread books, but I was so carried away with the adventure and romance that I kept wanting to escape to that world.

message 43: by Julianna (last edited May 23, 2010 04:10PM) (new)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 15 comments I review a variety of books with a strong emphasis on romance. I don't exclusively review "clean" romances, but I've tried to make my site friendly to the readers of them in three different ways:
1. If a book has milder content I always make mention of that somewhere within my review, and by the same token if the content could potentially go beyond the comfort level of the average romance reader, I will put a warning within my review as well.
2. I have a G/PG-Rated Romance List under my Theme Lists
3. I recently added a sensuality rating to help readers more easily find books that fit their comfort level. I had a lot of books in my database before I started the sensuality rating, so not all books have it yet, but I'm diligently working on it.:-)

Danielle Thorne (daniellethorne) | 167 comments I'm very grateful when reviewers and sites rate books. This helps me (in reader mode) make the choices I want to make. It's very helpful.

message 45: by Julianna (last edited May 24, 2010 12:31PM) (new)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 15 comments I agree Danielle. Even though I'm pretty tolerant of content, there are still some things that I prefer not to read about, so I appreciate very much when a reviewer makes note of those things.

When I first started my site nearly two years ago, I asked for feedback from a small group of friends and one of the first things to be suggested was a sensuality rating. It took a while to implement, but I'm glad that I did and wish that more review sites would do that too. No matter where a reader falls on the sensitivity scale, I think it can be really helpful in making reading choices.

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 15 comments Thank you, Joyce, and you're welcome. I hope some of the readers here will find it helpful.:-)

message 49: by Donna (new)

Donna Hatch (goodreadscomdonnahatch) | 36 comments I wish more booksellers offered a sensuality rating and I wish publishers put some kind of code on the cover or binding. You can't always judge a book by its cover applies to this as well...a scantily clad person pretty much guarantees it will have sex, but some very innocent-looking covers can contain graphic sex or other topics that might offend some readers. However, more and more online bookstores offer this and I really appreciate it. All Romance Ebooks gives it flames, the more flames, the hotter the book. My publisher gives a sensuality rating. www.thewildrosepress.com. Just click on the book that interests you and and it will say sweet, sensual, spicy, etc to warn you of the content. There's also a description of what each rating means.
