Anna (annablack) | 2 comments I'm guessing this book was published in the last decade or two. A woman goes abroad (Italy) and doesn't return home (England?) to her daughter on time, and you read two possible explanations as to why: 1) she has an affair with a guy (view spoiler) (I think) and 2) she's anxious to get home but (view spoiler)

The cover might have had a soft color palette--pinkish with a streetlight.
