Book 2 is worse.. I didn't think it was possible but it is.... the first half broke my heart while second half gave me a heart attack :-)

A friend and I BR book 3 but she skipped book 2 which caused us to have a difference of opinion regarding hilary.. I would suggest at least reading the first half. It will definitely help you understand Hilary better.. you can skim the gore after that and move on to book3.. which is mild in comparison to 1 &2 but equally entertaining. (hide spoiler)]
