Yes and you will love it. I am not a Jason Segel fan by any means, but he is amazing. Just you wait and see!

How was Straight Out Of Compton??

Yeah, I get that impression.

Have you seen Overnight? That movie also came and went pretty fast. Not tons of publicity on it. It's with Taylor Schilling (Orange is the new black) and Jason Shwartzman. Saw it. It was pretty good! Pretty funny and unique! By the way, if you DO see it, they're prosthetics ;) heehehe now you have to see it! lol!

Oh my god! That was confusing! I said "Yeah, I get that impression" in response to what you said about "The End of The Tour." I didn't realize there was a page 2. Well I did before, but then I forgot! Speaking of which, I was just checking the listings and guess what! Now The End of the Tour is suddenly playing! It came, went and JUST came back! lol!

Straight Out of Compton was good actually! I liked it! It was not ordinarily the type of movie that would be on the top of my list, but it happened to be quite good! Did you know that Paul Giamatti is in it too?? The acting was very good, it had a good flow, I liked the music actually, haha! Very bad-ass! As for the storyline, I'm not sure of the story/facts of NWA so I don't know what was accurate or inaccurate. Although, I DID hear something about a woman being pissed off because there was no portrayal in the movie of Dr.Dre being violent. And apparently he did have a history of violence to her and other women. Yup! The theater was packed. It seems to be doing quite well here.

Just saw this movie called "Diary of a Teenage Girl." don't know if it's playing there?? Not a lot of publicity here...don't even remember trailers and it's only playing at one theater here. It's quite good! It puts you in the mind of a 15-year old. She has an affair with her mother's boyfriend. *gasp!* scandalous! And it's set in the 70's which is always cool! It's with Kristen Wiig, Alexander Skarsgard, and this actress Bel Powley I've never heard of. All the movies I've seen with Kristen Wiig, she plays really silly, comedic roles, but in this movie she plays a different kindv'e character. That was pretty neat to see. I'd give it 7.5 on 10!

I really liked it!! It was SO GOOD! David Foster Wallace was so real and so insightful. It's very interesting the way he saw the world. I agree with you about Jason Segal. He really impressed me! But so did Jessie Eisenberg! And his personality often irks me, but I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't know Joan Cusack was in it! I mean, she played such a small part, but still! She's so funny! The personality of the character she played in the movie was IDENTICAL to that of Shameless. Wait a minute...you've seen Shameless, right?

In conclusion, I would give the movie 9 on 10!

I agree with your review, but I give it a 10 PLUS!! Yeah it was interesting how he saw things. Those Baptist know how to dance. His love of diet coke and Alanis Morrisette.

Lilith wrote: "Boulevard - bah!!! very good acting, but very slow paced and not a lot happened from beginning to end"

Okay there are 15 minutes left in Boulevard and you are right nothing happens. It is well acted and the guy who plays Leo seems promising. I think you would really enjoy Good Will Hunting with Robin Williams. Have you seen My Private Idaho? It is about some street hustlers in Portland and it was made in the early 90's with Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix.

Okay I will wait to it comes out on DVD. How was Jesse Eisenberg in it?

message 66: by Lilith (new)

Lilith | 802 comments Mod
He was good...but you know...there's just something about him, I can't quite put my finger on it, that irks me. I think it's his consistent facial expression that betrays absolutely no emotions whatsoever.

Deborah Heffner | 1076 comments Mod
The Overnight...breast pumps, bongs, and butt holes. I actually really enjoyed it. Thank you for the recommendation. I loved the dancing scene. I was laughing so loud. Holy crap the ending and then the kids walking in. I give it a 9/10! Oh, Jason Scwartzman was hilarious.

Those were fake right? When I first saw Jason in his tidy whities I was like oh wow!

Yay!! You liked it! One thing I liked about it is how it's one of those unique movies, you randomly come across...and that makes it interesting and special...The sense of humor was so well done also!

Haha! Yes they were prosthetics. I saw Adam Scott in an interview publicizing the movie...I don't rememeber if it was The Ellen show? Anyways, that's when he was inevitably asked the question and said it was fake.

Just finished Me, Earl And The Dying Girl. They have extras and go into detail about the artwork in the books from Rachel's room. I really liked the ice cream scene in the college prep book. They also shot the film in sequence to get the full effect which is rare since most films are shot out of sequence.

Black Mass - pretty good actually! The acting was really good and I was impressed with the cinematography. There wasn't too much guns and violence as there sometimes is in gang movies, which I really liked! Very good pace.

Hotel Transylvania was so cute. Did your previews include Goosebumps? I thought about you when they showed that. Jack Black! I thought the ending was so cute seeing a bat with red hair and blue eyes. I loved the part at the camp where they were flying. Overall 8/10!

Oh yeah Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman as the parents. Perfect casting.

I thought Grandma was a solid movie. I like the dynamics of Elle with her daughter and granddaughter. You are right there isn't many other movies to compare it to. I thought it was hilarious when Elle beat up Sage's boyfriend. It made me laugh. I thought all the performances were solid. I am glad Laverne Cox was in it.

So I ended up seeing Mistress America instead of The Intern yesterday. I don't know why. I just changed my mind. It was alright. There wasn't a whole lot of substance in the story and for a portion of the movie the dialogue went back and forth like The Gilmore Girls (which is annoying!) The movie didn't have very good ratings to begin with but I think it was my slight crush on Greta Gerwig that made me want to see it anyways.

Movie recommendation with Phyllis Smith (Sadness) in it: Bad Teacher. She was really good in it!! Here's a quick summary if you're interested:

A lazy, incompetent middle school teacher who hates her job and her students is forced to return to her job to make enough money for a boob job after her rich fiancé dumps her.

I just saw The Wire. I saw the 3D version. It is pretty good. The story does get a bit slow towards the end, but overall a pretty good movie. The cinematography is pretty decent and your boy Joseph did a pretty good job. It is interesting how it takes place in New York in the early 70's and focuses on the twin towers. I do think the movie did justice to the towers.

The Walk - Excellent cinematography. Overall, good movie. One thing I didn't like about it was how every time the narration came, it flashed back to him standing on the statue of liberty, telling the story. I don't mind narrations during movies...but in the background! hmmm...that mysterious visitor...I wonder why he was there! Initially, I thought he went to the top of the building to commit suicide, but upon seeing there was someone there, changed his mind. Then, I changed my mind and thought that he was an employee...went to the top to get some air and look at the view, saw Philippe, and didn't say anything because he decided to just mind his own business.

Freeheld - Pleasantly surprised! The acting was very good, story was told well and had a lot of substance. While I really appreciated Julianna Moore's and Ellen Page's acting separately, I found that they did not have on-screen chemistry. Steve Carell was pretty funny as a Jewish. gay guy, although I don't know if it was so convincing. Nonetheless, definetly a must-see!

I just saw Burnt today. It was pretty good. My only thing is I would have expected the character that Bradley Cooper played to be much more arrogant and condescending then he was. In the scene where he was yelling at all the chefs, I got the impression that you were supposed to feel intimidated by him. I didn't. At one point, he kisses a man right on the lips in a very non-homosexual way. It was so well done, it was awesome!

I thought it was really neat how they showed all the fancy plates and how upscale the restaurant was. It's seriously an art. It amazes me the talent that some people have!

I just got back from seeing Room. I loved it!! It was very captivating. The music and sound effects were so good and so well placed. I've never seen a movie depict the perspective of a five year old done so well. I was quite impressed! Jacob Tremblay's performance really blew me away. I can't get over how clever their plan was to escape! Although William H. Macy played a small roll, it was a nice, unexpected surprise to see him in the movie! Definetly glad I didn't miss this one!
