I agree. I read it earlier this year. Given all the hype, I expected more out of it.

I liked it well enough, but not enough to want to read more of the series.

I enjoy all of Holly Black's stories with fairy folk. What I enjoyed about The Darkest part of the Forest is that it shares a universe with Holly Black's Tithe series.

message 529: by Susan (new)

Susan (jazzescrapper) | 2172 comments I just finished Truthwitch (The Witchlands, #1) by Susan Dennard and it was AMAZING!!!

I was only into murder mystery books with an occasional romance but only on rare occasions. Now I feel like I have a whole new world opened up to me and I am loving this new genre. I am reading a lot of fantasy books lately and I am loving it. I have always been a big reader but I would get bored and not read for months at a time but I have read a ton for the last 4 months and it's the worlds the authors are building in each book. I have enjoyed reading so much more.

message 530: by Trinity (new)

I rated this book 5 stars, I really liked it, but after really thinking about the book I did feel like there were parts that drug out a little long. I think what I have heard from booktubers is this is more a world and character building book. You got to know each of them and the world she created for us. The next books are supposed to be much better and everything starts to click. I did like it a lot but I do see where it had some issues. I am excited to keep reading to see how the whole thing works out.

message 538: by Mia (new)

Mia ✨ (idontgiveafxxk) How do people include the book cover in their comments?? Technical mystery to me!
I just finished Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness, which I enjoyed even more than the first book in the series. Hopefully I'll get my hands on the last book soon

Hi there Mia, to get the book cover in your post you click on that little link at the top of this comment box that says "add book/author" when you click that it will bring up a little box will come up, at the bottom of that box there is a place to click cover, click that first then there is a search area where you can enter the title of the book or the author's name, hit search and the book will come up, hit add and you are done.It is really not to hard. I sometimes forget to click on the bottom link that says cover but other then that it's simple. Hope that helped

annoellyn Lee (annoellynlee) | 5 comments just finished City of Ashes

pretty good. i was hesitant going into the series because when i read the infernal devices, i really didn't like the writing but the story was good. so i kept putting off reading these books. but i think i reverse-hyped it. i had it in my mind that i really wouldn't enjoy the writing that it wasn't as bad as i thought and i'm enjoying them a lot.

Aisha (aisha_i) finished listening to Delicious! by Ruth Reichl

and finished reading My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand last night.

Delicious! was alright, I am a foodie, so I actually learned a lot about food. Didn't like the romance in the novel though.
And My Lady Jane was just hilarious!
