ABANDONED. about a boxer that kills a lion

ok so this book i read around 1995 its about a boxer that never lost a fight I beleive he kills some one and goes to prison becomes a christian then trys to box agian but keeps losing, so he goes on a mission to find him self along the way he or some one hes with gets attacked my a lion and he kills it with his bare hards. not sure of the ending. genre is christian lit. the book had not sleive which makes me think it was a older book.

it would have been for adults not that a kid couldnt read it it was a christian genre book. not sure of the time period. i mean i think he goes to afria because he ends up getting attacked by a lion
