I loved Susan Howatch's "Starbridge" series! I know it is an older series and complete at 6 novels, but it immediately came to mind when I read the discussion question for the week. I read them awhile ago and am thinking about re-reading them. I copied a description from the Wikipedia article for the series, "This series of six books sets out to describe the history of the Church of England through the twentieth century. Each of the six books is self-contained, and each is narrated by a different character. However, the main protagonist of each book also appears in the other books, allowing the author to present the same incidents from different viewpoints."
I have several mystery series that I love: Laurie R. King's Mary Russell series, Susan Elia MacNeal's Maggie Hope series, Donna Andrews' Meg Lanslow series (set in VA- somewhere near Yorktown). There are several series on their list that I am interested in reading, but the only two that I've read are Janet Evanovich (and I ran out of steam about book 8) and Sylvia Day (love her Crossfire series- very well written).

That being said, there are a couple series that I am in the middle of and anxiously awaiting the next book. Of course one is A Song of Ice and Fire (come on, Martin, we're not getting any younger). Also, Rowling/Galbraith's Comoran Strike series, which is surprisingly good and addictive. A book I read a couple months ago, An Ember in the Ashes, is the first in its series and so good that I really need the second book to come out. And then there is The Rook by Daniel O'Malley. It came out in 2012 and theoretically was supposed to have a sequel. No sound has been heard from the author since; he hasn't even written any other books. So I've sort of given up hope on that
one.
Edit: Just found out that the sequel to The Rook is scheduled for release in 2016!!!!! *happy dance*
I recently started the Undying Mercenaries series by B.V. Larson. I have been completely hooked after reading
and then
. At first I was skeptical about a book with space dinosaurs, but was captivated by the war tactics of a group of mercenaries that are able to be revived immediately upon their death. It was fascinating to see how battlefield tactics could change when you have limitless troops who can learn from their mistakes. Then, with the second book, the series continues to delve into the overarching plot as Earth faces annihilation from the Galactics, for crimes commited before joining the Galactic Empire.
Also, on a side note, there are 2 new bundles from storybundle.com this month. The first is a collection of Women in SciFi. The second is a collection of digital comics from Dynamite Pulp featuring Green Hornet, The Shadow, Zorro, and Lady Zorro.
As many have already said, I'm also awaiting the next book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series.One of my book clubs read The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey a few months ago which led me to immediately read the next book, The Infinite Sea, so I'm excited for the conclusion of that series.
I also just read The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard which is the start of a series.
Aside from that I'm looking forward to the next book in the Realm Walkers series by Donita K. Paul.
Wow, now that I'm thinking about it I guess I'm more into a few more book series than I thought I was.
I'm finally caught up with my goal for the year, in fact I'm currently one book ahead! I finished The Martian, which I loved! Then I listened to a few light reads, Mary Poppins (which I had never read before) and Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.
I tried to watch the first season of Game of Thrones, but 10 minutes into the first episode I realized that I am going to have to read the books first, to be able to keep track of who is who.

I know, right? Make sure to buy the book or have colored tabs to place in the book to keep track! It's a tough challenge to keep track of all the characters.
I am currently reading In This Mountain by Jan Karon. I was reminded of this group discussion because it is part of a series. This is book 7 of Karon's "Mitford years" series. The books center on an Episcopal priest, his wife and the townspeople of Mitford. Karon writes lovingly about her characters and you really do come to care about them. I picked up book 7 recently because I was curious about some of the characters and am glad I did! I forgot how peaceful a Mitford read can make me!

I thought it would be fun to see what series everyone on here is really into, and what books you just can't wait for. It's tough reading a series that still has books that need to be published or written, but the anticipation can also be pretty amazing.
It's no surprise that the A Song of Ice and Fire series made the list. Nearly everyone in the world is waiting with bated breath to find out when Martin will finally be finished with The Winds of Winter.
Besides ASOIF, I can't wait for Patrick Rothfuss to complete his Kingkiller Chronicles with the third and final book, which doesn't yet have a release date. A coworker also recently got me hooked on the The Extinction Cycle series. I've only gotten through the first couple book, but I'm already really looking forward to the fourth and fifth books that will be published this fall and early in 2016.
