I have a Comment on my Profile page that shows all my current challenges and progress. I update the same message so I don't have ton of challenge messages. In 2013, I was inspired by Barbara★'s private group and made one of my own: My Challenge Log group shows all my complete challenges. Thanks again Barbara for such a great idea!
And if I forget to put a challenge on my Comment list, then I look at my Comments and find it. (Click on the arrow next to your profile icon in the header bar and and select Comments and your comments are listed with newest comments first.)
Hi all, I'm intrigued by all the suggestions you have, but what I do is simple and works for me... Perhaps someone else already commented this? (I didn't read all comments.)I have a folder on my browser's bookmarks bar called "GR Challenges" and every time I comment that I will do a challenge, I put a link to that comment in my folder. Then at the end of a month, I go through all the links to make sure I have them all updated. :-)
Yeah, it's the updating that gets to me too haha! No kidding, opening my own group for tracking the challenges works like a charm, but since I decided to take on school besides the two jobs I already have, updating is a little more of a challenge. Well, as long as we are reading right? :)
What a fantastic bunch of ideas. I really like the secret group...I was intending to start one but have been hesitant. I started using OneNote and it breaks down nicely with pages for each challenge but having links to the site and all that cool stuff would be nice too. Can you make the secret group so people can't enter the threads?I don't have very many challenges I'm participating in (I thought 5 was a lot ;)but I humbly bow down in obeisance to you mega-challenge gurus.
I actually keep a Google Doc with my challenges. I basically have a link my reporting thread, (rules if needed) and then my list of books.I use same format as updating the thread so I can just copy back and forth between the doc and the reporting thread,
I do also have a master book spreadsheet where I track all my books for the year with tags that I'm interested in (library, TBR, brought) and (kindle, audio, DTB). For more complicated challenges, I will open a tab for them in this spreadsheet.
I created my own group and listed the challenges there. I have the discussion sections as the "group" and under that group I have the challenge topic thread. I have about 10 that I am keeping track of and this is the easiest way that I have found.
I also do a "secret group". I use it to track challenges, but beyond that also buddy and group reads that are current or upcoming, random stuff I need to remember and keep checking on with Goodreads groups/threads, resources I can bookmark that way in a thread, lists I've made in groups around Goodreads in various groups (would be impossible to remember otherwise). Also, since the notes section is too short in GR, I made a section to jot down notes about books to put in my reviews when I write them. I also made cheatsheets like icons I use for challenges (i.e. ✔ , ✓, ★)
It's a very useful tool
I was participating in a challenge called What's your Major in the general Reading Challenges page, but it has disappeared.Where can I find it?

Challenge folders are getting a bit of a face lift, but the challenges are still around, just perhaps not in the same folders. Click the link for ~ What's Your Major
Tried to create a Secret Group but it says I need to first verify my email. I have no idea what this means! I've been on GR for years. Do I need to create a public group first, and then change it.Anyway, what I'm looking for now is the current Scavenger Hunt. Can anyone send a link?

I had the issue as well and tried to fix it on my own but it didn't work. I read about this pretty often in the last few months so it looks like a programming bug. If you contact the GR support and describe your issue they fix it for you and you can create your private group.

But if they know of the bug, why not admit it and ask everyone to re-hook up?
If you try to create a secret group, I'm guessing that it wanting you to confirm your e-mail is NOT a bug. I used to be a member of a Private (or Secret) group, and every time I wanted to view the discussion list I had to enter my password to verify that it was really me wanting to see it. It's annoying, but that's just something that one has to do when it comes to secret/private groups. If it wanted to verify your e-mail, it was maybe the first time you'd ever tried something like that? It's the same with Goodreads Messages. I have to validate my password almost every time I click on that "envelope" to view the message center.
But. . . Validating one's password is different from confirming one's e-mail. If you've been a member for years, and had the same e-mail address, well. . . Maybe that was a bug?
I had to confirm my email when I set up my private group. It was no big deal and now I don't have any problems with it.
I started participating in an A-Z challenge a while ago, one where you just read the alphabet and I think the duration is supposed to be a year. But I've been looking for the challenge all day and can't seem to find it. Can anyone help me?
Hi I have a question. Since I just joined can I sign up for any currently running challenges? I'd like to look at the annual challenges and the July ones look fun.
I have set up my personal member's reading list. I hope this is what is supposed to be there. ??

Thanks! I'm really excited to be here!

Whatever works for you best.
I do have group, but for some challenges I also have spreadsheets.
You can never have too many ways of tracking your challenges :P
