Chapter Fourteen
I want to tell you my thoughts
My thoughts are buried like bones
I want to give you my heart
My heart is poisoned by woe
Trade my soul for bitter tears

Ev’ry kiss fear
—Judas, “The Man in Your Bed”
Past
Teo flipped the switch. Nothing. He flipped another and another until the room finally went dark. Too dark. Damn these cheap hotels with their plastic curtains. He wanted darkness, not blackness so thick he couldn’t see the hand in front of his face.
Blind, he patted the wall, fumbling to find the light switch when he heard it. The quick intake of Eva’s breath, a spark of fear beneath the wave of wonder for what was coming in the dark.
The first note.
Eva’s body had become his instrument. All the nights spent listening to her sound, concentrating on the feel of her, studying her reactions, testing different spots, different pressures, different ways of touching her taught him how to make her body sing. He crafted every detail of his scenes with her as if he was writing a song, and like his songs, once a scene began, it took on a life of its own. Every breath, every whimper, every moan created a note while their bodies scored the melody.
Not a lulling song of hushed romance.
A pulsing song of pure decadence.
His fingers fell away from the wall. Tonight’s song would begin in the dark.
Teo sat on the edge of the bed, felt Eva turn, and listened to the rhythm of intimate breath.
The sound of anticipated pleasure.
The sound of anticipated pain.
He ran his hands through her hair, then leaned over and inhaled. Vanilla with a hint of spice. Eva’s hair had been a turn-on since the first time he saw it, but to smell it…ah. Her scent conjured every carnal instinct.
Eva wanted to use “the correct labels,” and Teo knew his. He was a sadist. Perhaps a guilt-ridden, reluctant sadist, but a sadist nonetheless.
Emotional pain held no fascination. In fact, it gave zero pleasure. It was the physical. Not overpowering or hurting Eva as much as possible. Rather getting Eva to give him as much pain as she could and was willing to bear—that was the game.
Detailing each dark desire and coaxing her willingness to satisfy it—that was the set up.
Luring her deeper and deeper still to accept suffering and enjoyment in equal measure—that was the skill.
Expanding the limits and depth of her trust until pleasure became inextricable from pain—that was the victory.
Pushing those boundaries and increasing her tolerance with each successive encounter—that was the challenge.
These desires, these secret, terrifying whispers that beat within his heart, were as addicting to him as any drug could ever be, and he surrendered himself to them time and time again. When they were alone in these stolen moments, there was no thought of sin, no voice in his head chastising him for simply being what he’d always been, and no lies. Only the truth in his heart, the talent in his hands, and the harmony of his muse to guide him.
Teo’s erection stiffened with the opening notes of their song. He reached into the darkness and let the peace Eva offered flow into him. Each scene started with the same buildup. A bit of hugging, kissing, some gentle foreplay, then the lyrics.
“Why are you bound, Eva?”
“To show me the depth of your love. Losing me means losing yourself.”
“Why are your hands free?”
“So I can stop you, but I never will. I trust you, Teodor. I know you will never harm me.”
“But I will hurt you.”
“Yes.”
Intoxicating.
Let the game begin.

BLURB:
First love. Obsessive Love. Lost love.
Teodor Rey is a sinner. A rock star with a guitar in his hand and the world at his feet, Teo wants the one thing he cannot have: the woman he calls his silent harmony. The only one who ever soothed the artist's tortured soul and satisfied the dark passions that rule him. The same one he betrayed with a narcotic mistress. Teo conquered his addiction to drugs. Never his addiction to Eva.
Eva DelZotto is a freak. A runaway with a finger in the air and a pen in her hand, Eva finds solace in words. Secret poems about pain and self-punishment and the submissive desires of a misunderstood girl who the world refuses to love. Until a boy with a guitar steals her secrets and teaches her how to live them. The same boy who leaves her behind. The one who will always own her heart.
Judas is the savior of rock and roll. An explosive band with a bad boy reputation and bonds that run deep, Judas is on the way to international superstardom, yet their front man is far from satisfied. Teo resurrected the band's career, but without his muse, nothing can resurrect his soul. When the band takes a hiatus from touring in New York City, divergent paths cross again.
Addiction is hell. Love is far and away worse. Can Teo regain what he lost? If so, at what price?
