This contest is really geared to self published authors. I encourage everyone of you to enter and get some feedback from publishing professionals.

Jason Crawford (jasonpatrickcrawford) | 62 comments I have entered my NaNoWriMo sci-fi book. So excited!

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Entered my Science Fiction novel also. Didn't have any problems.

message 4: by Rob (new)

Rob Rowntree | 26 comments Entered mine too.

Henry, did you use explorer or chrome. Last year I had problems, but when I used to chrome to set everything up all of my formatting stayed intact, including italics indents and paragraphs.

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 491 comments I didn't enter. I didn't feel I had a slight tiny chance. :p
Anyway, I want to wish good luck to you all. May the best story win.

Really it's not all about winning. Upon entering your book becomes one in ten thousand (or fewer) instead of one among millions. If you progress even slightly you'll get at least a little publicity for your book. Not sure at this point if that's good or bad, but as long as they spell my name and the title right...

Michael Puttonen (mput) | 37 comments Best of luck to those entering. May your hard work reap positive results.

message 8: by Peggy (new)

Peggy Holloway | 393 comments This is the fourth year I have entered. I hope to at least make the first cut this year. I feel I have grown as an author. I wish you all luck. I hope we all make the first cute.

Shannon Pemrick | 55 comments Good luck to everyone who enters!

message 10: by S.L. (new)

S.L. Figuhr (slfiguhr) | 41 comments I entered as well, this is my first time. If I even make the first cut I'll be happy.

Good luck to everyone!

Rob Rowntree | 26 comments Yeah, my stuff looks okay. No trouble. I think Firefox should be okay too, I seem to remember some of my friends using that last year without problems.

Not sure what's going on.

30 minutes later - I've had aplay. You can get into the excerpt on the entry page and fiddle with it there and save the changes.

Martyn Halm (amsterdamassassinseries) | 915 comments Henry, did you enter Escaping Barcelona?

Reprobate participated in the ABNA 2010 and reached the quarter finals, so I got a Publishers Weekly review out of it. And that was all I wanted, because I wasn't interested in signing a boilerplate contract with Penguin.

I don't know if it's still the case, but if you move to the semi-finals, you had to pre-sign the publishing contract without the ability to negotiate the terms.

J.M. (jm_short) | 9 comments Can anyone tell me if a true tale with fictitious names is considered fiction?

message 14: by J.M. (new)

J.M. (jm_short) | 9 comments Also- I conducted a 3 day giveaway that ended this morning and had 500 participants. In addition to telling the winners who won, does Goodreads tell the others they didn't so they'll be inclined to go buy the book?

Thanks!
Joyce

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 491 comments @J.M. No, Goodreads does not notified the people who didn't win.

message 16: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 2274 comments Good luck Henry! It's worth a shot. I'll be reading the book shortly.
