I thought it would be interesting to see when our members do most of their reading.

Sandy (sngrant) | 7 comments I spend a day getting my house all clean and all my work done. Then I give myself the day off to read. Then the next day I have a big mess the kids have made for me and a lot of catching up to do but it is so worth it. :)

Sounds like a good plan, Sandy, don't forget to vote in the poll.

Becky Lawyer | 106 comments While I'm blow-drying my hair, brushing my teeth or anything else I do while standing at the sink (not what you're thinking). I do a lot of audio books, and that can be done while driving or anything else. I find I can actually make myself do housework or cooking (not my favorites, I'm sorry to say) if I listen to something while I'm at it. I haven't done any fruit canning for a while, but I can seriously get through lots of books while canning - or painting a room!

As for me, I read about the same year round, however I get distracted much more in summer with things to do, places to go, ect, so I finish books more quickly in winter.

I read mostly in afternoons and at night, or on dead uneventful weekends.

Carol (carol07) Mostly night. But usually any free time I can get. Listen to audio books on the computer and in the car.

message 7: by ~☆~Autumn (new)

~☆~Autumn I also read mostly at night and have done so for years.

I think it goes to show how awful television programming is anymore, that most of us choose to read during Prime time hours, lol!
Actually my TV is seldom on. It is used more as a monitor for games and DVDs!

Misty | 56 comments I have to share that my grandmother used to read constantly. I used to watch her, facinated, while she read while cooking, watching tv, and even while she was talking on the phone. She'd pull a novel out of her purse in grocery store lines, bank lines and basically anywhere that caused her a moment of waiting. I, however, am not nearly so talented at muti-tasking. I need quiet for reading so I usually do it at night before bed or during quiet times at work. I'm also a fan of relaxing in a bubble bath with a glass of wine and a book, although those moments are sadly few.

My mom was like your grandma and she usually had at least two books bookmarked and lying in different rooms of our house.

I never used to read more than one book at a time, but since getting my Kindle Paperwhite, I am now usually reading one book during the day[when I get a chance],and one book in the evening/night, on my Paperwite, as there is no light near my recliner where I read.

I love this! I, too, often read during a TV show or movie, usually becuase it doesn't take much concentration to keep up with what's on the screen. Aside from that, most of my reading is at night when I can relax.

message 13: by Misty (new)

Misty | 56 comments Thanks Margaret! I read during commercials, lol. :))

message 14: by Lourdes (new)

Lourdes | 26 comments I do my reading as soon as I get up in the morning for a couple of hours because I work swing shift. Then, I take a break and do household chores. I spend my breaks and lunch times reading at work too. Reading is my "sleeping pill". I have to "look" and flip those pages before I switch off the lights. :))

message 15: by Kristi (new)

Kristi Cramer (kristicramer) | 109 comments I'll admit I read on "the throne." It's about the only place I read paperbacks, LOL. Safe to say, I don't get through paperbacks very fast - unless they engage me enough that I take them with me.

I usually read a bit before sleeping - mostly on my Kindle. (I finally bought one.) That's around 10:30pm.

I can't watch TV and doing anything else, unfortunately. The "boob tube" as my folks called it, just sucks me in.

I do most of my "reading" while working out, driving to work and back, or on long solo trips. Or sometimes for housework. I don't often splurge for an audio book, but rather use the text to speech feature on the Google Play Book app on my phone. It's just a computer voice reading, so it takes a bit of getting used to, but I couldn't get through nearly as many books without doing it this way.

message 16: by Libby (new)

Libby (bulldog369) I read when I'm not busy like I night before I go to sleep. I might read when I get tired of coloring books for adults it definitely relaxes me or word searches and then I might read a book.

message 17: by Ann (new)

Ann Watkins (topaintwithwords) | 1 comments I have a book in every room of the house except my son's bedroom. Usually I take a book to read with me whenever I leave the house and expect to have to wait for any reason. I read on public transportation. And lately, because our tv is broken, there is a race to get to the computer (don't let someone get up to get a drink of water). When I lose the race, I take a book up to "my" room, turn on some music and read.

message 18: by S.T. (new)

S.T. Sanchez If its an audiobook, I will listen while I walk. Otherwise its usually the evening after my 3 kids are in bed, and maybe a chapter at a time, for as long as I can keep my eyes open:)
