Agatha Christie is considered by many to be the Queen of Mystery fiction, creating many literary icons like Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple.
Which brings me to the question; what makes a great mystery novel? Do you want to be kept in suspense the entire time? Does it bug you horribly if you figure out who the killer is long before the novel is over? Do you like your mystery novels sweet and fluffy (cozy mysteries), or hard core and gritty?
Also, I man(or may not have) nominated this because Aiden Turner will be starring as one of the characters in the new TV miniseries adaptation of this. Nope, not at all.... ;)

First, there were ten - a curious assortment of strangers summoned as weekend guests to a private island off the coast of Devon. Their host, an eccentric millionaire unknown to all of them, is nowhere to be found. All that the guests have in common is a wicked past they're unwilling to reveal - and a secret that will seal their fate. For each has been marked for murder. One by one they fall prey. Before the weekend is out, there will be none. And only the dead are above suspicion.
