message 251: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Bhatt | 151 comments I don't have any books from the recently dead authors. I will look for them tomorrow at library. But I think this round will be closed by then. Do the challenges and goals carry forward to next round?

message 252: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments I've think that when this round is over we start anew with new goals and counting. All books must be done before the deadline or we can not use them in this round or round 2, since all books in 2nd round must be started after the 1st round is finished.

message 253: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments I finished Happenstance 2. It was published 7th september 2014 and has 182 pages according to Amazon. Since I bought it there I will use that pagecount.

message 254: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments New goal: read a book whose audio version is between 6 and 7 hours long.

message 255: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments A new goal was added.

Read a book where the audio version is between 6 hours and 7 hours long

message 256: by Emily (new)

Emily If the goals carry over, I can start a Terry Pratchett book when the new round starts. I won't have time to read one before the round ends, though.

message 257: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Bhatt | 151 comments I think the goals carry forward. I read similar answer in the main chat. can you check Silje?

message 258: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I checked the short books we've added, but they're either too short or too long. I'll look though some more later.

message 259: by Emily (new)

Emily Nidhi's The Billionaire's Dance is 6 hours 55 minutes, according to Audible. :)

message 260: by Emily (new)

Emily By the way, I'm sorry for the delay on the "X" book. It will be finished before the round is over, don't worry. Real Life has gotten in the way a bit this week. I plan to finish it by tonight.

message 261: by Delta (new)

Delta (sicname) I have a Pratchett book that was in my pipeline. I can read it today.

message 262: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments Checking to see if the goals carry over, will update when I know. Added The billionaire's dance to the audio goal, Amazon said 6hours 22minutes, so no matter which source we use it still counts:-)

New goal: read a book with a title that starts with X.
Think I have a book for that one.

Finished "midwife, mother...Italian's wife", no goals on this one.

message 263: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments correction on the new goal. Read a book that starts with the letter X. Unsure if this means the first word in the book or the title...

message 264: by Emily (new)

Emily Silje wrote: "correction on the new goal. Read a book that starts with the letter X. Unsure if this means the first word in the book or the title..."

I'm guessing title.

If goals carry over, I can do this one if no one else has anything. I had a book that I could get from the library. But I won't have time to get it and read it before the end of this round.

message 265: by Delta (new)

message 266: by Emily (new)

Emily Well, there you go. Delta, read away. :)

message 267: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Bhatt | 151 comments Great Delta... You ahve many books having X in title and author's name. :P

message 268: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Bhatt | 151 comments Oh sorry that's Boston Kate. My bad!

message 269: by Emily (new)

Emily Haha, I've got the author. Delta can have the title. :)

If it comes up again, I have a title that I can get, though. So we're covered.

message 270: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments The goals carry over to the next round=)

message 271: by Emily (new)

Emily Okay, good to know. Thanks for checking, Silje :)

message 272: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments Awesome.

message 273: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments If we ever need a character that starts with X, I got a book for that=P

message 274: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments Great. Because I was thinking that it would be difficult finishing some of the goals on time.

message 275: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments I do have a book that starts with X, X-Treme Dating, I can read that one if Delta would rather focus onn the Terry Pratchett book?

message 276: by Delta (new)

Delta (sicname) Either way is fine. The Pratchett book is an audio book so I'll have it finished before I'm done with work. But feel free to start your book if you have the time.

message 277: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Bhatt | 151 comments Wow! we are on roll... \m/

message 278: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments If you have the time to finish both, Delta, you can do that=) That way I can be a bit social with the people I'm visiting as well:P

message 279: by Delta (new)

Delta (sicname) Lol. No problem.

message 280: by Emily (new)

Emily Finally! Sorry it took me so long. It was a bit slow-going.

message 283: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments Another goal: Read a book whose author (first or last) starts with S

Nidhi's I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella works, I'll use that one.

message 285: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shannonbaggins) | 83 comments Hey guys! I'm so sorry that I haven't contributed much this week, it's been so hectic!
I'm currently reading a book which I don't think I'll be able to finish by the deadline, but I have a long car journey on sunday so I'll start a new book straight away and get as much read as I can.

message 286: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I don't have any books from the Amazon list. Author with a Z is also going to be a little difficult.

message 287: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments I've got author with Z covered, will try to finish, but can't guarantee it.

message 288: by Delta (new)

Delta (sicname) Finished Xoe: or Vampires, and Werewolves, and Demons, Oh My!, 212 pages.

I have a few of the books for the 2011 challenge, but I won't be able to finish before the round is over. I can start when the next round begins.

message 289: by Margaret (new)

Margaret | 456 comments Finished Night Road by Kristin Hannah. Unfortunately, it isn't on the Amazon best sellers list for 2011 :(

message 290: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments Nidhi, does the Only Enchanting on your bookshelf count for this round? If so, I've forgotten to add it...

message 291: by Silje (last edited Aug 15, 2015 03:46AM) (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments New goal: Read a book with the main genre (listed on the first page on GR) as Young Adult
I used Shannon's Prodigy for that.

Next is Read a book whose author (first or last) starts with G
Used the The rebel tycoon returns by Katherine Garbera in my shelf for that, weren't many options to choose from=)

Next up: Read a book with 31-40 chapters
Anita's Wait for you has 34 chapters, at least in the e-book version, so I'll take that one.

Hope nobody feel like I'm bulldozing over everyone else here, let me know if you do!=)

message 292: by Silje (last edited Aug 15, 2015 06:54AM) (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments Next: Read a book which has the main location (setting) as the UK
I think we can use Nidhi's "when beauty tamed the beast" here, it looks like the setting is in London and Wales.

Another: Read a book where a character's first name starts with M
I used Margaret's "Night road" with the character Mia Farraday.

Read a book where a character's first name starts with the letter A
Shannon's "Demon Road" has a character named Amber.

message 293: by Silje (last edited Aug 15, 2015 07:06AM) (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments Read a book where a character's first name starts with the letter H
Margaret's book "Before the larkspur blooms" has a character named Hannah Hoskins.

Read a book whose author died 5+ years ago

message 294: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments A True Princess by Diane Zahler finished, fits the Z goal.

message 295: by Silje (last edited Aug 15, 2015 08:10AM) (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments next goal Read a book with an average goodreads rating of between 3.01 and 3.99
Alyssa's "Wild: From lost.." has a rating of 3,93.

Next up: Read a book that contains the word peas

message 296: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Bhatt | 151 comments Yes. Silje my book only enchanting is read during the span of competition. Do add it plz.

message 297: by Emily (new)

Emily Nice run of goals there! Great job finding books we've already read to fit, Silje!

I've got a pretty busy day today, so I don't think I'll be able to complete a book before the end of the round, but I'll look at them and see if there is anything I can start tomorrow to fit one of the goals.

Are any of the current goals being read for right now?

message 298: by Emily (new)

Emily Assuming we can use "pea" instead of "peas", I can read that goal tomorrow. I have a book that I can read pretty quickly, but I won't be able to start it until the new round.

message 299: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments Only 7 hours left til deadline, if you have a book you're already reading, try to finish it before then, otherwise it won't count for any round.

Current goals, I'm guessing we'll start round 2 with these:
Read a book that is in the Amazon 2011 bestsellers (http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/...)
Read a book whose author died 5+ years ago
Read a book that contains the word peas

Kate, I think both singular and plural or the word can be used so that will be fine=)

message 300: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shannonbaggins) | 83 comments If no one has one for the Amazon bestseller list, I can read Son of Neptune. I have meaning to read it for a while. I started it ages ago and never finished (will it count if I completely start from the beginning? because I wanted to do that anyway) if I can, I should be able to read it tonight.
