I've read 3 Gaiman books. The first one I read The Graveyard Book was awesome. Then I read Stardust, but for the first time ever, I thought the movie was better than the book. I still liked it though. Then I read Neverwhere, but that one didn't grab me. So my experience with Gaiman has been varied.

the alchemist is nr.97 on the 2008 Amazon list so it fits that goal. A new one will be coming shortly.

New goal: read a book that starts with the letter V. If words like A, An and The can be skipped, we can use Anita's A very accidentaly love story, but I need to check with the mods.

Ok. I sent them a question on the Captain gruppe, ask the mods link. you can check their answer there, Anita, just in case. I'm about to board a plane, so I won't be able to check for a couple of hours:-(

Landed safely. We were allowed to use Anita's book for the goal. New goal: read a book where a character gets a makeover.

The new goal of a character that gets a makeover, I just finished Shadow and bone by Leigh Bardugo and the main character, Alina, gets a makeover near the beginning (308 pages)
sorry for all the writing mistakes, my phone is autocorrecting to Norwegian and it won't let me edit my comments:-P

The character is Alina. Damn, that's bad luck. There was a character called Zoya which could of fit that goal
Hmm... I don't have a book currently with a "Z" character, but I'm sure I could find one. I'm still working on the "X" book, though, and probably won't have that finished until tomorrow (my goal) or possibly Friday. Do we know when exactly the round ends?
I'm reading Hammered and it has a character named Zhang Guo Lao. I should have it finished late tomorrow

I read them at face value but I can tell his writing is far over my head.

Sunshine - I'm sure it wasn't over your head... more like that your head isn't in the same place as his head. :) I think you definitely need to enjoy a certain type of quirkiness in your writing in order to enjoy his books.
Sunshine wrote: "I'm reading Hammered and it has a character named Zhang Guo Lao. I should have it finished late tomorrow"Is Zhang the first name or the last name in that case? (I'm sorry, Chinese names confuse me sometimes). The goal is for a first name, so I just want to make sure that it counts.

But his world building is absolutely amazing.
The audiobook for Coraline is possibly my favorite audiobook I've listened to. Both creepy and funny, especially the rats singing. I listen to most of my books at 2x or 3x and there is nothing funnier than squeaky mice singing a creepy song at 3x speed.

I finished Inferno by Dan Brown, matches no goal, but it has 544 pages so it gives us a bit extra on the attack=)I also started Strictly Temporary, which has a character named Zack. I will have it finished today or early Thursday.

Looks like late Saturday night for me.
Just want to make sure I plan out my books so that everything is finished before the next round starts.
Now that we are getting closer to the end of the round I'm reminding everyone to remember to put all the books you read for this challenge in your gladiator shelf and to put a read date on them. That way it will be much less work for me and Anita. If the books are not in the shelves or don't have a date that fits the timespace, we can not use them.

Finished Renegade Man, 253 pages. It doesn't fit any challenges. Are there any challenges that are not being read for already?
New goal Read a book where a character's first name starts with the letter WCity of the Beasts has a character named Walimai so we can use that one=)
Awesome. I'm close to finishing A Rush of Wings, which will also work for a goal. Will probably finish it when I get home from work later.

Great Anita!New goal Read a book first published on the 7th of a month
I'm a bit busy right now, but I can start check through the books we already have read when I get back, unless anyone already know a book that fits.
I don't have anything quick. I'm sure I could find something, but nothing that I can read in a day. :(

I'll look when I get home from work. Only 20 minutes to go. Wait why am I online? I needed a 5 minute break :)

I finished Bullied Kids Speak Out: We Survived--How You Can Too, 206 pages. Doesn't fit any challenges.I double-checked my books, but none were published on the 7th.
I found Torn, published May 7th. I can start it in a few hours when I finish the book I'm working on.

Ok, Delta:-) if not I found a book as well but it is second in a series I haven't started reading, so I would have to read the first one first...

Ugh, there's a problem, turns out we can't use Torn after all. The goal ask for first published and Torn was first published the 24th of January 2012..=(

I finsihed A Rush of Wings works for goal weapon on cover.and
Wait for You which doesn't work for a goal.
      I can't find a book that's published the 7th of a month.I'll keep digging.
New goal: Read a book whose author died this year
I know Terry Pratchett passed earlier this year, and I recently started his series Discworld. I'll try and listen to one of his books before the deadline, but if someone else has a book that works. Please don't hesitate to read it, as it wasn't really one of my planned books this month.
http://www.famousdead.com/category/wr... Here's a list of authors who died this year, anyone got something?
