Shannon (shannonbaggins) | 83 comments Honestly, I didn't really enjoy 'The Elite' too much. I ended up giving it 1 star since I just found the whole thing very repetitive as in how America was falling for Maxon but then he did something so she turned back to Aspen and when Maxon apologises she just goes back to him and forgets about Aspen again. In the end I just got a bit tired of this. I think I would of enjoyed it more if America wasn't the main character. I just don't seem to like her and this changes the opinion that I have on the book.
However, I did like 'The Selection' so I want to finish the series just to see how it ends. (I already know who Maxon picks though which ruins it since I read the blurb of 'The Heir' a while back when I found it in Waterstones)
I assume you have read it? What did you think of this book? Better than 'The Selection'?

I started Raging Star By Moria Young earlier today which has a rating of 3.83 so this could be used for that goal if I finish it before anyone else who is reading a book which meets the goal.

Then we could use that one, but it could perhaps be an idea to save it in case we get a goal about biographies or music genre?

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9632 comments That audible part goes for audiobooks that don't have another edition on GR or editions don't have page numbers.

If you are listening to audiobook with other editions, use default GR edition. That's edition that shows up first when you look for a book.

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments Shannon: I found it quite enjoyable, but I quickly learned to overlook America's indeterminacy. The selection was better though, a good mix of The Bachelor and The Hunger Games.

Sounds good to me. I have an eclectic range of books in my pipeline so there will probably be quite a few "oddballs" in the mix.

Yeah, I saw that, too. If you click on the tab at the bottom called "Goals" you can see the entire cell. Or, at least, most of the cell.

I have the same problem, I can't see the defense goals. Nor can I check the books other team members are reading as Silje said she would update.

The excel sheet is in "Read only" mode!

message 62: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments I just finished One Night, Two Heirs, it has a ratig of 3.53. Should we use that one so we can get a new goal immediatly?

Alyssa, I think I have fixed it so the whole sentence show on the spreadsheet now=)

message 63: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments Nidhi, you can switch between pages on the bottom of the spreadsheet, it says "master", "books" and "goals". There you can see the books the others are reading and the goals we have.
Only the captains are allowed to edit the sheet, it has to be "read only" for everyone else..

Nidhi Bhatt | 151 comments Thanks Silje! I think we should use One Night, Two Heirs for the defence goal.

Anywhere in the book. Just give us sentence and page where you found it

LOL. Well, that will be fun.

message 70: by Emily (new)

Emily Silje wrote: "new goal: "Read a book that contains the word leek""

I would think that the word just needs to be mentioned in the book. Not that "leek" is exactly a common word.

(I just did a search on "look inside" on amazon, and one of the books I have on my list to read next actually does apparently have the word "leeks" mentioned - I assume plural counts? If someone else finishes a book sooner that has the word, by all means use it, but I'll try to start mine by Wednesday of this week, hopefully have it done by the weekend.)

My book is Frog Music, by the way. :)

My team went from chamomile to parsley :)

You don't really have to pay attention. Just check on Amazon or on google books if your book has search inside option. Then you'll know :)

Thanks for the tip Tea... I was getting stressed about it. :):):)

message 75: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments With audios I usually go with the most popular edition (which usually shows first on GR) if I've read an audio book. As long as that meets the page count it's usually OK. Also as far as I've noticed 6+ hours books works for most challenge sites.

message 76: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I'm not sure if Silje has posted this yet, but another goal has been submitted to us.

Read a book that contains the word leek

Does anyone have anything that works for that?

message 77: by Emily (new)

Emily She did - post 66. :)

I probably won't have a chance to start it until Wednesday, and no guarantees I'll finish before the weekend, but I can read Frog Music, which (according to Amazon's "look inside" feature) has the word "leeks" in it. If anyone comes up with something sooner, be my guest - I was planning on reading it anyway :) - but if no one else claims it, I should be able to have that book read by the end of the week.

message 78: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments Kate, I think your book is as good as any on that goal and we have 12 more days in round 1, so no worries if you can't finish before the weekend=)
If anybody else happens to find "leek" while reading, make sure you post it:P

message 79: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments I added the link to the countdown clock in message 9, along with the shelves. That way it might be a bit easier to keep track of the time as well=)
I'm off to bed, talk to you guys tomorrow!

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments I've started reading Inferno by Dan Brown, which suits the goal with author first or last name on B, but it is app.500 pages so if anyone finish a book that works before me, just let me know and we'll use that one in stead=)

Sunshine✰✰✰ | 313 comments Hi Team! I'm going to take a moment to go over everything first. I saw a team challenge and just jumped in without looking! :) I have a book that will be finished today. I'll see how it fits.

Emily Sunshine wrote: "Hi Team! I'm going to take a moment to go over everything first. I saw a team challenge and just jumped in without looking! :) I have a book that will be finished today. I'll see how it fits."

Just make sure that it was a book started after the challenge started. Books started before can't be counted.

And even if it doesn't fit anywhere, still post it. Any book can be used for attack points, and it can always be used to fill a future defense goal that comes up this round. :)

Sunshine✰✰✰ | 313 comments oops, yeah I did start prior to the game start. Well, I'll have a new one started today :)

message 90: by Delta (new)

Delta (sicname) Finished The Angel Court Affair, 288 pages, last night. It doesn't seem to fit any of the challenges, yet.

message 91: by Delta (new)

Delta (sicname) Welcome, Sunshine!

message 92: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments Caught in the Spotlight by Jules Bennett is finished and fits the goal with author on B, so I'm replacing Inferno with this one (still reading Inferno, but this one was easier to finish sooner).

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments New goal: Read a book that was originally published between 1951 and 1999

Anyone got anything?

message 94: by Delta (new)

Delta (sicname) I don't have anything for the new challenge, but if we ever need anything published in 2015 then I've got it covered.

Emily Silje wrote: "New goal: Read a book that was originally published between 1951 and 1999

If no one else has anything, I've got a few options at home. I can start reading something tonight.

message 96: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments I've got a book or two as well. We could just use the first book finished that suits the goal?

message 97: by Emily (new)

Emily Works for me, Silje. :)

message 98: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I have Vengeance in Death (In Death, #6) by J.D. Robb which was published in 1997, but as I have to finish some books before I can start it, I'll only use it if none of you have already read one for the challenge.

message 99: by Silje (last edited Aug 04, 2015 01:34PM) (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1453 comments Anita, I think you can focuse on the books you are already reading, between Kate and me I'm sure we got that goal covered=)

message 100: by Anita Reads (last edited Aug 05, 2015 03:09AM) (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I finished: Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris 08/05/15 ★★★★

Fits the goal: Paranormal genre book. Page count: 295

(I edited the spreadsheet accordingly)

I'll keep focusing on my other 2 books (the thing is they're all 3 audio books, so that's why it's difficult to start them on the same time). I have been challenged to continue with the In Death series this month so I'm going to start them afterwards anyway.
