Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) Where are we in the standings? I was looking at that spreadsheet, and it is overwhelming and confusing ;-)

Fun cozy mystery series with a touch of psychic abilities. This one has everyone stranded at a "haunted castle" during a snow storm when the murder takes place - your classic locked room mystery.

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) When you go to the Master Spreadsheet, scroll at the way to the right. They normally rank us. But you can count from the top winner down from Agron, the top team.

We are in 10th place.

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) Well I guess we need to step it up! Although I've noticed some teams have quite a few more players than we do, I think published in April was covered by Diane :-) I'll check that 2009 list out :-)

message 309: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) OK, I found some books on that list, but probably can't get to that until Saturday, I have Amazing Race tomorrow, also I think I sort of figured out the spreadsheet :-)

message 310: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) So we are really in the middle, so we merged with the ninth place team???

message 311: by Ezi (new)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) My mistake on that. I did update the spreadsheet.

yea, I am listening to my "v" book. I should be done tomorrow

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments I've tracked down the audio of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, #1) by Seth Grahame-Smith from the 2009 bestsellers. I have a couple of other books to read first and I'm not "dying" to read it, so if there is another book that someone else wants to read, go for it. Otherwise I'll start it when I finish my current audio.

I LOVED that series on audio. I had no intention of reading it until one of those Pick it for Me challenges. I wasn't pleased when my picker Erika chose that books out of 400 plus books on my TBR. But after I listened to that audio, I listened to the next 8 in the same month. I ran through books 1-9 in the month of November. I remember cooking Thanksgiving meal listening to Sookie Stackhouse.

It's pretty good. It has a lot of tips I've gotten from other books, but some new stuff I might give a try. NaNo is a lot of fun, but you're right that 50k can be a little daunting.

I have. It's a good book. This series is pretty good until the author completely ruined my favorite character. Never finished the series because of it. Dead Until Dark is an enjoyable read though.

Fast Fiction A Guide to Outlining and Writing a First-Draft Novel in Thirty Days by Denise Jaden
Book:Fast Fiction: A Guide to Outlining and Writing a First-Draft Novel in Thirty Days by Denise Jaden
Finished: 8/13/15
Task: Read a book with a colon : in the title
Rating & Review: 3 stars

This book has a good premise and follow through. I also like that a portion of the proceeds for it goes toward NaNoWriMo, one of my favorite websites and yearly challenges. It also pleases me that this one works with NaNoWriMo, rather than against it. I've read at least one how-to book on writing that actually bashed NaNo a bit. Not the best way to make a good impression when this challenge is so well-known and loved. This book has some tips and things I've read in other books but also has others somewhat unique to itself and its author I may try when I plan my next book, whether for NaNo or otherwise. It is an easy and fast read and set up quite well. The day-to-day breakdown doesn't really work with how I write. It is still a welcome addition for those this would work for. I recommend it to any who have a wish to try to get a first draft of a book written quickly Whether for NaNo or for whatever writing project they wish to tackle.

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) The Vixen and the Vet (A Modern Fairytale) by Katy Regnery
Book: The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery
Finished: August 13
Task: Title "V"
Rating & Review: ★★★. I am a little disappointed because the other book Never Let You Go: A Modern Fairytale was sooo good.
This one was so cliche and felt forced.
The Blurb is very accurate and so I got the book as advertised. It was just predictable and the instant love was too easy.
Savannah and Asher found a second chance with each other and that was nice. I wanted angsty and I didn't get it.

Yes. Tasks are given random.
I even think one team had same task twice at the same time.

I guess we have leek again:(

With so many things, I don't think we should get duplicates so early on. They should change that for next time.

If we change it then I have to parse all the existing goals and remove those then choose a random one from the remaining goals. It makes it much harder and slower.

If you want to see the actual random function used I had posted it here earlier: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

We have a big list of all the goals we've thought up and it does a random between 1 and the total goal count then chooses that item. It does not take into account what team the goal is being assigned to at all.

I'll open up the master spreadsheet for everyone to look at after the games are over. I just wanted to keep it private for now so the goals are still a surprise. We're adding new ones all the time so things should be less frequent as we go.

Hehe. Just want people to know they're on an equal playing field. The battle grounds are treacherous to everyone!

Something to note is that if we say "find the word _____" it doesn't have to be the actual item. If it says "find a book with a ________" then it should be the item.

So since it's find the word leek you have more options :)

Leek Through Time
The Shadow King: The Bizarre Afterlife of King Tut's Mummy
The Devil Called Collect: The Exorcism of Jessica Leek
The Murder of Crows: A Tom Greer Mystery
Susan Mallery Fool's Gold Series Volume Three: Almost Summer\Summer Days\Summer Nights\All Summer Long
The Singing Winds
Solitary Witch
Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise

(You should check any you plan to use since I was going rather quickly.)

Certainly one of the most unique plots I've read. I did enjoy the story, but it is meant for kids and I kept thinking his "parents" and guardian were horribly neglectful.
