I knew this one was going to be a definite additional one. I chose not to pick it last year since somebody loves this one too!!! I wanted to pick one I hadn't read before. Great choice Lauren!
I think it Christie wrote nothing else but this book, she would still be a famous writer. I do have a hard time choosing between this and Roger Ackroyd as being her very best.
I promised myself this time when I read it, I would savour it and enjoy the anticipation (which I did), but in saying that I couldn't put it down and finished it again last night!Definitely one of my favourites! Every bit as good as the first read. The book made me shiver, again. I love how Agatha Christie really allows us into the characters minds as they descend into eerie madness.

The madness is the part that intrigued me. Christie knows how to handle her characters really well. Seeing their emotions change as the pages went by and then they basically seem like shells of themselves as if they have mentally come undone was really admirable!
Definitely admirable! Love it! Felt like I was experiencing it too.
I love how Agatha Christie really strips her character bare, as it were. Very raw and powerful.

Hey folks, what do we think of the characters? Justice Wargrave is my favourite. I confess, I admire his genius.
Such a classic this one. You can always tell a true crime classic when you want to go back and read it even when you know who did it.
I agree Malcolm. I've been through the whole Christie canon many, many times and still find the read enjoyable.
I`m still on the waiting list at my library for this one. I always say its my favourite Christie, so its definetly time for a re-read. Hope it comes in soon. I did go and see And then there were none in Cardiff New Theatre a few months ago. Really enjoyed.
This was just rated her number one book, by an international vote. (Orient Express came in second.)
I am pleased to say the stage version stayed pretty close to the book :-)
I think people loved this book so much because it was humanity coming through so clearly. I agree with Vladimir. This and Peril At End House was so great. You dont want to put it down! Truly surprise endings both!
Finally got this from my library. In my opinion the best Agatha Christie. :-)

What a load of interesting characters though!!!
Which of them intrigued you guys the most?
For me, it was probably Emily Brent, the old fashioned stiff upper lip kinda character, with her intriguing eccentricities. Vera also had me fascinated, with her guilty conscience that haunted her throughout the story to the very end.
Mac Arthur, with his somewhat dreamy disposition may have intrigued some, it was interesting that he could almost foretell the future that beheld them all. Even the Rogers' had me suspicious at the start- interesting pair, filled with terror.
Blore, wasn't my favourite but played his part well. Wargrave, well what can I say? And then the Doctor, aah Christie had put him in the story as an attempt to send me off track, I'm sure! Marston didn't interest me that much, probably because we heard very little about him. Finally, we have Lombard- hmm not my favourite but played an important role nethertheless.

I wasn't scared either but truly realised how terrifying the situation must have been, hanging around, nothing to do but wait, knowing one of you is a murderer!!! Particularly at the end of the book, when Wargrave related the events and how he'd premeditated them all! Ugghhh, horrible- love the book though, lots of suspense and danger always makes a great read for me! I also watched the film, a really old black and white version set in the Middle East I think rather than Devon. Will re-read this book soon, perhaps when I've finished ABC murders! Five Little Pigs I'm hoping to read afterwards.
Hi! I just finished reading it a couple of weeks ago. It also terrifies me a bit, not by reading it, but with all the plot! I swear most of them felt guilty by their crimes (the ones who got the chance).I made a resume in my blog for this book, I usually read in spanish, actually i'm reading all the Poirot saga in order, but I made a break to read this one in its original language.
