ϻαđίѕσи ~ I'm gonna be free, and I'm gonna be fine, but maybe not tonight
(new)

It was silent between them for a moment before quietly said, "My family doesn't know that I'm here either. Or maybe they do. It all depends on whether or not you believe in heaven, I suppose." Of course she was implying that se had no family, not anymore. For some reason, Mara wanted him to know that, but she didn't really know how to tell him.
Ky looked down when he felt something hit him in the leg, and that's when he saw the kid who had been in the bar earlier. He didn't know why he was here, and he didn't really think that this was a good place for a little kid to be, but he didn't question it. It seemed as though Mags was in charge of him, or so it seemed when he said that she had a job for him. "Yeah, where is Mags anyway?" he asked, looking around and seeing that the flow of people into the room was finished. Anyone who was coming was now here, and Ky wondered when things would start.

"How did it happen?" He asked in regards to how her family had died. His tone was guarded, not to be disgraceful, but death was highly expected there and asking how someone died didn't show much disrespect.
Cud gave a small shrug looking up at the boy. "Who knows. Probably talking to the other people running this show." He laughed faintly to himself. He didn't think Ky really fit in a place like this. To Cud, the guy looked a bit scrawny and awkward. "I talked to her earlier though. They're doing sign ups today, you one. Start training people to fight or defend." He said in an in-a-matter-of-fact tone. He knew he may be considered too young to be there, but it beat laying on a hard cut, drizzled by rain under a leaky roof.

"My mother went first," she began finally, "She died in childbirth with my younger sister, who died of sickness when she was eight. Then a few years later, my father died in an explosion of gunpowder at the factory where they manufacture guns for peacekeepers, which was where he worked...."
Mars sighed a bit, knowing that she still had one more family member to discuss, but she always hated talking about this one the most. "After that, it was just me and my brother. He was three years older than me, and he always was extremely depressed. Nothing could make him better, and I tried everything that I could," she said, "He was the guy that hung himself in that tree up the road, I'm sure you remember people talking about it a few years ago...."
Her voice got quieter at the end and she looked down, not meeting Atticus' eyes anymore. Mara always hated talking about her brother because she still blamed herself for his death. She believed that she hadn't tried hard enough to save him, though she had tried as hard as she could.
Ky listened to the boy, feeling uneasy when he said that sign ups were officially starting tonight. He knew that that meant that he would have to officially make up his mind either to commit to this or walk away. Honestly, neither sounded like a good option to him.
As the boy spoke, Ky felt like it seemed as though he was much older than he truly was. This was probably because he seemed to know more about this rebellion than anyone besides Mags. So finally, he quietly said, "If you don't mind my asking, why are you here? I mean, I guess you could ask me the same thing, but.... you're just... you seem awfully young...."

"I'm sorry about your lose." He said, deciding not to comment on her older brother. He remembered just as well as she did. He had stood aside as his father and other peacekeepers took the corpse down from the tree. "It sounds like you were strong for all of them. You're very admirable." He assured her with a small smile, hoping to comfort her some.
Cud grumbled faintly, not appreciating Ky's question sense this was what he'd been asked all night. "I want to join the rebellion!" He said. Though this was a lie he told people so they'd leave him alone. He then reached up, taking Ky's slave and pulled him down to his level, "Mags asked me to find a crew of people to train specially with her. I think you should join." He said, just in a whisper for Ky to hear.
He wasn't making this up. The boy was only there because of Mags, now playing the role of her little assistant. She fed him and shared her bed with him though, so he felt he owed her.

She only shrugged when he complimented her, knowing that he was trying to make her feel better, but it didn't help. "Everyone knows that everyone dies, right? Especially around here," she said casually, as if they were discussing the weather because she as trying to cover up the fact that without even meaning to, he was ripping open wounds that she had taken great care to close up long ago. As always, she appeared just fine on the outside, but she was broken on the inside.
Ky didn't know how to react when the little boy said that he wanted to join the rebellion. He was sure that the boy didn't really know what he was talking about, but he just hoped that Mags hadn't actually let him join.
When he said that Mags was looking for a certain group of special people to train with her, he couldn't believed that the boy was asking him to be apart of it. "I...I'm not sure I've got what it takes, I mean, I'm not special or anything," he muttered, his low self esteem showing through now more than ever, "Why don't you go and ask he girl you were at the bar with earlier, or that guys, the piece keeper's son. They'd be much better fits for the job I think."

Cud pouted faintly, "I don't know anyone else. Besides, I don't like that girl!" Atticus hadn't taken any impression on the boy, and he couldn't say he was very fond of Mara. The girl had called him out and made him very unconfirmed. He'd like to avoid her more than anyone at the moment.
"Please join." He said, simply trying to find some people for Mags then go to bed. "You can quit layer but just see what she has to offer. And hello me find the other two. They can join too." He said. Finding the only 2 other people they seemed to know could be the fastest way for him to get to bed.
Atticus looked around, recognizing quite a few people as everyone chattered on. Soon it seemed like there was someone from every house hold in town, and even some people he'd never seen before.

She didn't know what to say either, so there was simply an awkward silence between them until he finally asked when things would start. "I don't know," she said, "Hopefully soon." It this meeting would simply begin, the two of them wouldn't be forced to continue with awkward conversation.
Ky sighed, not seeing how he had much choice. It was also nice to know that he could quit later if he wanted to, so he finally sighed and gave in. "Fine, I'll join Mag's little group," he said quietly, already regretting it. Ky knew that he wasn't a soldier at all. He was relatively weak, and he wasn't really all that smart either. He thought that someone else should get to join this special training group, but it was too late to say so. "The other two are over there," he said, pointing across the room to Mara and Atticus.

After hearing Mara's question, he snorted mockingly towards himself, having to pride in his works, though very matter-of-fact, "Of course my family doesn't know I'm here." He answered her anyway. "I can't say they care where I am anyway." He muttered and glanced around the room as people talked and took seats.
Ky was suddenly greeted with a whack on the leg. "Hey, I didn't think you'd show up." Cud looked up at his with a confident smirk, "I don't usually come to these kinds of things, but Mags said she needed my help for something." He said defiantly then looked back of the crowd. The boy seemed cheerfully, though that may be because he was stuck out in the rain or under a leaking room.
