I can understand, I have like 140 pages left and it's getting hard to put down! I'll probably finish in a couple of days.
There are 3 other books set a few hundred years after the end of this one. I will have to see how this one ends, but in any case I'm following a translated edition, and I think that currently there's only one more book available for me (The Alloy of Law). So, I want to eventually read them all, but I'm in no particular rush :)


Chapter 65

So Ruin was just too lazy to take direct control of every koloss when it could just manipulate someone else to do it.
Vin takes off the earring and 1) Ruin disappears, 2) she can use the mists again. Could it be related? Did she have the earring on the last time she did it? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 66

Overall thoughts without spoilers:

It was very satisfying to finally get all the answers about the world and creatures of the Mistborn-universe.
The characters, like in the previous books, were great but I would have liked to see a bit more of Ham and Breeze throughout the book.
But overall I found the first two books a little better, or at least through and through, The Hero of Ages didn't grab my attention and hold it as quickly and wholly as the others. Not saying that it wasn't good though, I really enjoyed it. And the ending was great and this has definitely earned a place as one of my favourite trilogies :)

Chapter 74

Chapter 75

I guess that I can understand him though, he is in a way trying to protect his people but that doesn't change how ignorant and arrogant he is. And I have a feeling that gaining power over his people is just as much of a motivation for him as saving them. (hide spoiler)]

Thoughts about the last chapters and the ending
(view spoiler)[ I liked how in a way Elend and Vin were both fighting their own battles. Elend trying to stop the koloss and safe the people and Vin trying to stop Ruin, and how they trusted each other with their part.
Elend was smart to burn Ruin’s body so that he couldn’t get his power back. And just the scene with Elend and a cuple hundred soldiers fighting thousands of koloss was good.
It was sad when Elend died. Sure I was kind of expecting either him or Vin to die but I was still secretly hoping for a happily ever after and them ruling the new world togeather and helping the survivors rebuild. But I understood why he was killed off, and when Vin then destroyed Ruin (and herself in the process) because there was nothing holding her back anymore was a good scene. So it was kind of a bitter-sweet end.
Then to Sazed being the true Hero of Ages, hadn‘t guessed that. Brandon Sanderson really is the master of plot-twists and surprises. But it fitted so well, he had the knowledge to put the world back in it‘s right place. And after all his religion searching and doubts and regaining hope and faith he finally found a use for his passion for religions.
The last scene when everyone came out of the caves and discovered the new world was great, after all the horrors they had lived through they found a green and ash-free earth. Since it looks like Spook will be in charge of recreating society I would have liked to see him learn a bit more about being in charge troughout the book so it would have made more sense. But still proud of him and have faith that he will learn leadership just like Elend did.

I would so much like to see the Mistborn trilogy being turned into movies or TV series. It’s just so visually great, I could see the world and the battles in my mind while reading. It could be like the new Game of Thrones when that is done haha ;)

I've just finished. I'm an emotional mess.
Well, wow! That is how you conclude a trilogy. I loved the attention to all the details, included all those from previous books, it showed that the author knew where it was going from the very beginning.
I thought the second book was the weakest one, maybe because it was little more than a set-up for these events; maybe because Straff, Zane, and an army enraged koloss cannot compete with the Lord Ruler and Ruin.

I'll be back when I'm able to form more coherent thoughts again.

Random thoughts on the ending

Vin died; Elend died; TenSoon might as well be dead too; Marsh, the one who most deserved a bit of peace after everything he went through, is probably still alive; Sazed became god who is everywhere and nowhere at the same time. It's a massacre! Why do I find this kind of ending so beautiful?!

I loved when everyone got out of the shelters and Ham was able to reunite with his family, it really drove home that it was all over.

Cett is going to throw a fit if Spook ends up taking the throne from him XD

If Sazed was able to talk to Vin, Elend and Kelsier, then he must have been able to talk to Tindwyl too ç_ç

So sorry you didn’t like the last one, Katie. I wasn’t too impressed either... too much political stuff for my taste and very slow paced. I am liking this one though. VERY MUCH.
