The series trap

I've finished Patrick Rothfuss' "The Name of the Wind," which was very good. But it's part of a series, so now I'm locked in for 2 more books!

There is only one more book, plus a separate novella. The third book has been highly anticipated for years.

I bought George R.R. Martin's, "A Game of Thrones" at the airport to read on my flight... by the time I landed 3 hours later, I had already decided I needed to read the whole series. Little did I know at that time that his books are 900+ pages in length. It was worth it though. I've read all five and am anxiously awaiting his next one. The HBO series is also entertaining; however, I still prefer reading the book before seeing the movie.

I read a book once not knowing it was a series and near the end I kept thinking, "How on earth are they going to wrap this up so quickly?"
