Bronwyn Orsatti (bronwynorsatti) Anyone else going to read the new Philippa Gregory when it comes out?

message 2: by Skye (new)

Skye | 484 comments I am planning to read The White Queen.

message 3: by Arwen (new)

Arwen | 55 comments I think the Taming of the Queen could be very interesting, I'll try to find it when it comes out.

message 4: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 29 comments She is rather creative with her history. Enjoy the book but don't think that what she writes is necessarily historically accurate. That is my problem with Ms. Gregory.

message 5: by Arwen (new)

Arwen | 55 comments Yes, she writes novels, not history books, but they are often quite enjoyable (I find), as long as you keep in mind that it's a novel and not an accurate history lesson. :)

message 6: by Bronwyn (new)

Bronwyn Orsatti (bronwynorsatti) I agree with what Carolyn and Arwen is saying. I enjoy Philippa's work but I would never take anything as being fact without other proof. I guess what I tend to do is enjoy her novels and if something takes my interest I then go an see if it was her imagination or something based on fact.

I know the book comes out on Kindle on August 13.

I hope you enjoy it. It is a good introduction to her Cousin's War series.

message 8: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine | 5 comments I pre-ordered the book. I enjoy her novels. They're easy reads and pretty entertaining overall.

Same. I am looking forward when it is realised.

Ashok Patel | 3 comments I do look forward to read it.

message 11: by Laura (new)

Laura (dinkie84) On pre order with Amazon :)

message 12: by Sally (new)

Sally Archer | 3 comments I want to read it and look forward to my library buying it.

message 13: by Susan (new)

Susan (suereadsbooks) I really don't think that this is going on my reading list. I prefer a more accurate portrayal of events than Ms Gregory is able to offer. I think I have outgrown her.

message 14: by Zoey (new)

Zoey (rozannen) | 8 comments Yes, I really enjoy her books, so am looking forward to it :)

message 15: by Tiiu (new)

Tiiu | 26 comments I'm going to read it. I have been reading about the Tudors for ages, watched and read The White Queen and am presently reading some books about the Plantagenet by Dan jones

message 16: by Mary (new)

Mary Cheney (marypcheney) | 13 comments Yes, I will get it for my Kindle when it comes out as my "Tudor Shelf" is full :). I am looking forward to it as I haven't read anything by this author yet,

message 17: by Kereen (new)

Kereen (kerrose) | 6 comments I cannot wait to get this one. She is a great author.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2170 comments The Taming of the Queen will be our Group Read in September, by the way. (We'll be discussing it here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... .)

message 19: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) I enjoyed it. It was the first of hers for a while that I had enjoyed. I'd nearly written her off as unreadable.

message 20: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Posner | 21 comments I also enjoyed it - although I found the first half dragged somewhat; it was only when the conspiracy against her started that I felt the story really come alive.
Compared to Queen's Gambit, I felt the character of Henry as a foul-smelling old man worked better in this book, but I thought Alison Weir was much better at creating other believable characters around Kathryn.
