So my degree (what I studied for 4 years) is in Child and adolescent development. Meaning I focused on anything and everything children from conception to age 18. In the states you have to have a credential specialized in the area you want to teach. Elementary it's a multiple subject credential. Middle school, high school, college it's a single subjects. Master is an add on in the states if one wants to but it's not required. It helps with experience.

When I say top level I mean I will enter on the highest level with teaching since I will have 3 credentials and a master. I won't have to work my way up. I will just be at the top which also means my income will be higher too.

Rachmi | 4882 comments Oh, it's quite similar for Indonesia educational system, then. We have to choose a credential specialized too. For example, my friend who is a teacher in a Junior High School has a degree in English while my other friend who teaches in Senior High School chose Math. I think they studied for about 3 to 4 years too. So it's quite similar, right?

Yes. My degree took 5 years rather than 4 cause there was a lot of cuts in th college systems which cut classes and put limits on the amount of classes we can take. My first credential took An extra year. When I get into the other credentials those two together will take 1 1/2 year and than masters will be I believe 2 more years but I will be working and have my own classroom in a year so the rest would be online.
