SOLVED. YA book from the 90s about a girl in a mining village [s]

I probably read this book in the 90s as i would have been fairly young.

The book was about a young girl who lived in a mining village who ends up leaving her family to travel with a religious or political leader(Can't remember which). She becomes his helper and assists him with his visits to other villages until his death when she takes over his role without permission. I remember that it was always cold and they often wore furs. The cover had a picture of the main character who was blonde on it. I have a vague memory of the title containing something to do with Fire.

I got Hitchhiker's Guide using the app. I also got Harry Potter/Azkaban when clicking on an Endid Blyton book in another thread. Must be a bug.
