Nate Cox Eula Biss's Notes From a No Man's Land is a phenomenally written piece of work that examines our nation's struggles with race and identity as well as a personal perspective of the issue from Biss. This book is full of difficult but thought-provoking essays examining the intersecting politics of race, class, and place, even if Biss is not always right. Biss manages to hold your interest from chapter to chapter, which cannot be said for other lyrical essay books where the pace moves too rapidly or become confusing. I feel that by relating her personal experiences to her research, she grounds her experiences in a relatable way that the viewers can reflect on, thinking about their own personal experiences and in her words, changing the distinction between race and personal identity to overcome our racist tendencies.
