And I totally agree that reading can improve our language :)))

1. it is a part of a story.
2. it's explaining something.
3. the writer keep using the words.
These are few words that I had learn so far.
• Valor - bravery.
• Famish - hungry.
• Glen - valley.
• imbecible - the stupid of the stupidity.

This is how the dictionary looks like on Kindle:

The Vocabulary Builder:

There is also this "Flashcards" that serve as a test of sort to see whether you still remember the words you looked for before or not. The program coupled the word from the original text (from the book you read) and let you see the meaning if you still haven't mastered it.
The Flashcards:

When I'm not using Kindle, I'd still refer to the dictionary the old fashion way and then jot down the words and its meaning into my book journal. At times, I do guess the definition of the words based on the context of its sentence but only for those familiar words that I might have stumble upon before.
love this discussion Najwa!!
my curiosity is so high and I used to walked around everywhere since I started SJK with my loyal dictionary in hand/bag.. then my dad upgraded my beloved dictionary to an electronic one when I started SMK.. So, it's kinda my habit to look up everydamn thing in the dictionary before I continue reading after..
sometimes, it kinda drag to 10 minutes for me to fully understand the meaning & used of the particular word just to make sure the level of my understanding.. I know, it's kinda weird of me & I used to get picked on because of that~~
but there's this one memory that happened in my life that couldn't forget. when I was 8, I can't remember who gave me Picture of Dorian Grey as a birthday present and I started reading it that night with the company of my loyal dictionary & I kinda scribbled words meaning in the book and I still have it until now :D
it took me 2 1/2 week to finished it and that struggled make PoDG my ultimate fav book in my life. (the same level as HP-HBP) :D

or if I'm reading on my PC I'll go straight to Google
I use a lot of guesswork too but ultimately I always look it up immediately so I don't forget !
So as we all know, reading can actually improve our vocabulary as we will stumble upon new words as we read more books.
But the question is, what do you do when you stumbled upon a new vocabulary? Do you take a dictionary or google it to know what it means? Or do you just guess what the word meant by referring to the sentence itself? Or maybe you just let it be and keep on reading?
As for me, I'm three of them, it depends on my mood. If the dictionary is actually reachable then I'll look it up or I ask my parents what the word meant. But if there's neither, I take a good guess of what it meant or just let it be lol
So guys, let me know!
