I can already tell that something is going to go wrong when Gaius tries to get his new body or whatever crap his mom is doing for him. It will probably go to Kyan because that's just how this shitty series is. The romance in this series doesn't interest me either. SIGH SIGH SIGH. The only storyline I even remotely care about is Lucia trying to save the world, everyone else can die for all I care. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 1-6
I am just a barely in this book and wow does Morgan Rhodes know how to grab a reader. If the Prologue is any indication of how this book will go then we are in for a fun and amazing reading adventure.

So it starts off with the sisters stealing a baby and killing the mother...what a way to begin a book and if that wasn't enough the older sister turns to the younger sister, who led her to the baby, she kills her and takes the baby. She leaves her youngest sister alone on the outskirts of a forest and leaves her to die.

Aron is a nobleman with a drinking problem and Cleo is the Princess of Auranos and they were in Paelsia to get the best wine in all the land. Aron is a jerk and was being a jerk to the poor wine seller when the wine sellers 2 boys came in and saw their dad was upset. It led to Tomas getting into it with Aron and the jerk Aron took out a dagger and killed Tomas on his sister's, Felicia, wedding day. Aron didn't fight fair. Tomas had no weapons and was not really a threat to Aron but Aron is an awful human being and likes the feels of killing.

Cleo was told by her father the king she was betrothed to none other then Aron who she couldn't stand. He has a secret he knows about her. One she doesn't want to be let out so she goes along with whatever Aron says and does so that her secret is never revealed and now she is to be married to this awful terrible man. She is sick over the arrangement and doesn't want to marry Aron. I hope she runs away or comes up with a plan so she won't have to marry him. Her father thinks he is perfect and would be perfect for her. (hide spoiler)]

Cleo: Wait it was her Alexius was watching, as the hawk was there throughout the killing of Tomas, and he flew off at the end. Hhhmm. Also wonder what her secret it!

I think the same thing you are. I bet Cleo is the one with the magic and not Lucia. I think we are going to find out the Lucia is not Magnus's biological sister. She is definitely the one that Sabina took and killed her sister over. My thoughts. I think maybe she was a twin and she is Cleo's twin and they took Lucia but really it's Cleo that will end up with the magic they are looking for. That would let Magnus free to be in love with Lucia since I don't think it's his real sister...just my thoughts. I also wonder if Cleo fall's for her body guard Theon. I hate Aron too. I also disliked him before he killed Tomas. I hated how he treated the wine seller. He is such a jerk :) (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 7- 14
I'm loving this book even more that I am deeper into the book. I love the characters and hate those that I am supposed to hate. I fear that just about the time I will grow to like someone the authormay have he/she killed...lol.

Lucia-has a secret and I we now know she has magic. She has kept it to herself and just now shared with Magnus.
Cleo-her engagement to Aron was announced and she is so unhappy but her sister Emilia it looks like is dying and she told Cleo how she might be saved but it means going back into Paelsia where Aron killed Tomas and the Paelsians have not forgiven the nobleman or the Princess Cleo (she was supposed to be looking at the fight with a smirk on her face when really she was horrified)
Theon-said he would go with Cleo to Paelsia if she got her fathers permission to travel there. Her father of course said no way. She decided to sneak away and deceived everyone except Mira and Nic (who is secretly in love with Cleo) she slips out while everyone is sleeping and Nic is there to accompany her on this forbidden trip to Paelsia.
King Gaius of Limeros and Chief Basilius of Paelsia have decided to align their two kingdoms and start a war against Aurarnos. Not just because of the murder of Tomas but Auranos's land has produced many crops and they have wild animals to hunt while the other 2 kingdoms have nothing and their people are going hungry. There is going to be a war.
Magnus is still in love with his sister Lucia. I wonder still if they are blood brother and sister. He knows of her magic and has vowed to help her keep it from everyone. (hide spoiler)]

I'm loving this book more now then I did in the beginning. Now if only I could get my daughter to read this series next.

I love that Cleo is this meek princess that sits back and follows orders. I'm hoping she tells Aron where he can go.He's such an arrogant jerk. I read some of the reviews on Goodreads to see if others loved it like I do and mostly it's all 4 and 5 stars (there are some lower star ratings but the majority are high) the one thing they all say is they don't like the insta love in this book and maybe I don't 100% know what they mean by insta love because I am on page 292 and this is the first time a couple has actually come together and kissed and said how they feel about each other. I won't be giving anything away since there are 3 princesses and it could be any one of them. The reason I think the guy kept it to himself is due to the fact he isn't noble or of any royal decent and wouldn't have a chance but certain innuendos made several times in the book led you to know these two liked each other. I just don't see that as insta love....

So poor Magnus in love with his sister but now that he knows she isn't blood related wouldn't it still be kind of ewwwww since they were raised as brother and sister. I adopted my oldest son and it would be like them wanting each other to which they would both say "NO" not sure if I want to see where that story line is headed. Maybe Magnus will find a nice girl and it won't be his sister (mind you nothing has happened yet and for me I hope it stays that way) any thoughts on this??? (hide spoiler)]

I thought I had 2 buddy reads happening at the same time so I mapped out what I was going to read per day in each book and then realized the 2nd book wasn't a buddy read at all just one I was going to play catch up on. I sort of stuck to my reading plan because I do have a big buddy reading week coming up.

Where are you in the book? I just finished. What are your thoughts so far. I really enjoyed this book. I couldn't put it down.

Did you find that just about the time you liked someone or at least got to know them they were killed off? It's one of the things that kept me reading. I think I had inhaling and having my mouth drop open every few chapters...ha ha ha...the ending. I wanted to scream but held it in. I need my library to get Rebel Spring in NOW. WOW is all I have to say and not just a little wow but a jaw dropping WOW. I know I am still newer to the fantasy genre but I have read my fair share in the last few years so I think I am a decent judge of a book. This book was everything I want in a fantasy and more. I love when a book can have fantasy AND include romance in it. I myself find it to be a well rounded book when it has something for everyone. Throne of Glass series and ACOTAR are still my favorites but this one has moved right up beside them.It was an amazing first book to me....this is just my own opinion. I just really loved it.

Princess Cleo isn't going down without a fight is she??? For me I think her character grew so much throughout this book. I knew she was going to be a MC but I wasn't sure I would like a MC who was a coddled spoiled young girl but she ended up being what I wanted her to be. What did you think of Princess Cleo. What about what Magnus did with Lucia....I am glad the author had Lucia react the way she did. I just think NO even though they aren't blood related they were raised brother and sister. Now thought since he is a killing machine with no emotions, really!!!

Any thoughts on that scene or part of the book? I have a son who is adopted and I can't see that happening ever in this world between he and my daughter that I did give birth to. That is his sister and it's just a big NO. I may have stopped reading if she had given in and said anything like I feel the same way or something.

Thoughts about the end? WHY or why did she feel the need to stand in the crowd. Can anyone else say bad idea!!! Cleo I get was curious to see what the King was going to say but did she think she would go unnoticed. Again can't wait to hear thoughts on this. (hide spoiler)]

They were some of the longest chapters I think I have come across in a long time. I like to stop at the end of a chapter but with this book I just looked for a period at the end of a page. Those were some extremely long chapters. :D

@Maddie, I don't know if I chatted with you about this part and just saw you asked me. Do you know that all the times I have buddy read with people no one has ever asked what I thought or pointed out their own thoughts. I stopped doing BR's for the simple fact the spoilers I read were just reviews so I thought that's what I had to do. You have made this really fun and now I know what to look for when buddy reading from here on out. This was fun and I appreciate you taking the time to tell me how to do it right.

I thought Aron was a pompous entitled jerk. I HATED how he treated the wine seller so much. I had a feeling he was going to pull out a wad of money and that he would clearly have had more then enough to pay what the wine seller was asking. I don't know why Cleo didn't put a stop to it when Theon wanted to stop things. What was she waiting for....she should feel guilty for the rest of her life for Tomas's death when she had a bodyguard that could have ended it without someone getting killed. (hide spoiler)]

The Hawks constantly there watching them was a tad creepy. It could go either way. Alexius watching them is going to be for protection and therefore good or he's going to be evil and kill one of the girls. They don't give you a ton to go on. The fact he is keeping Lucia a secret again could be he's hiding her to protect her from someone or something or it's for his own personal issue. Do either of you think he's up to no good? I can't get a read on why he is there. Is he the same hawk that is also following Cleo or is it just Lucia he is following? (hide spoiler)]
