I found this list. I'm curious to see how many of these some of you have read. Also, love to hear thoughts on what made the list, what should have, and why.

FYI I have only read 42 of the list. I am currently reading 43 in Ananthem.

Nathan | 34 comments Only 23 of them. Some of them are in my to-read list.

message 3: by Jesse (new)

Jesse | 8 comments I've read 10. I started out strong, then ran into about 60 I've never heard of. Some of these I've started and never finished and a couple are on my to-read list. Lot's of ideas for what to read over the next many, many years.

message 4: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Cooper | 64 comments I've only read 10 and only four are on my to read list.

message 5: by Matt (new)

Matt | 150 comments only 16. and that's when I include the dune series (even though I have only read 3 and probably won't read the rest), the drizzt series (I've read a bunch, but not all), and the space series (read Out of the Silent Planet, but haven't read the other 2 yet)

Woohoo. I'm still winning this challenge.
Sorry. Is this not a contest?
I'm a jerk.

Bryan Beaty | 33 comments Ugh...only nineteen. Well they counted several long book series I'd read as one. But still, I have work to do!

Woohoo. I really thought Jennifer was going to beat me. Nicole might.

message 13: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Too bad I cannot count how many times I have reread some of these. Most of the ones I have read I have read more than once and I am over ten for The Stand and Dune :0)

message 14: by SciFiNow (new)

SciFiNow | 89 comments I have probaly miscounted but i got 57. Ive seen these kind of lists before and i have gone out of my way to read as many as i could. I pretty much have all the fantasy as that is my preference.

message 15: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jenlynn97) | 60 comments How does Outlander and Wheel of Time series only count ONCE? SHEESH! Not to mention GoT!

message 16: by Nathan (new)

Nathan | 34 comments Sometimes I hate lists like these. No one tells me what books are worth reading :)

Some of these I have not read because I have zero interest in them. I will give them credit, it has some of my favorites on it: Wheel of Time, Sword of Truth to name two.

SciFiNow | 89 comments I never uderstand why american gods is ranked so high on these lists. I didnt like it at all. But yeah a great many books listed here are parts of HUGE series. Wheel of time or sword of truth for example.

I'm shocked that I've read 12 of these books and actually am in the process of starting the Outlander series.

message 20: by Jess (new)

Jess I've read 18, but some of those are full series that are 3 or more books.

message 21: by Rudolph (new)

Rudolph Hall | 14 comments I only have read 13 from the list. Hopefully that can be improved. Already starting to remedy this by reading Hitchhiker's Guide for Book of the Month.

message 22: by Andy (new)

Andy Lindemann | 28 comments 11. Only 11. Have seen more of the movies though.

message 23: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jenlynn97) | 60 comments I am reading Dune now, so soon my number can increase to 33! I am closing in on Rodney! :) I want to read F451 and The Foundation Trilogy and then I will have the first 10 down. I am counting Dune first book only, since I have chronic serialitis and if I read book one I WILL read the rest of the series. I have an odd compulsion.

message 24: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (co984life) | 115 comments Mod
A lot of us have that compulsion Jennifer.

I have it as well. You can stop with original author. I recommend this course. Series gets really good. I am happy to hear that you are giving it a try

Michael | 18 comments 19. My taste in sci fi/ fantasy must be really different from NPR listeners.

message 28: by Ila (new)

Ila | 10 comments 36 1/2. I haven't read the whole series of Thomas Covenant. Yet.

message 29: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jenlynn97) | 60 comments Finished with #7, Fahrenheit 451. It was a short one! I am now up to 34!

message 30: by Ellie (last edited Feb 22, 2016 01:17AM) (new)

Ellie (whipsnake) I'm kind of surprised that I have only read 26 from that lit (counting series as 1 as the list do). But I guess it's because I always just read fantasy, and only started reading sci-fi last year.
I'm currently reading 3 of the books on the list though (yes I'm one of those horrible people reading many books at once), and I have 11 on my tbr list. Might add a few I hadn't heard of.

message 31: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jenlynn97) | 60 comments Just started the Foundation series by Asimov. That completes my reading the top 10 (top 12 really).
