Googled "book boy aliens fruit".It was the second one listed of results. Surprised me too, thought it was going to be more difficult and I love a challenge.You are welcome. : )
This is a fantastic idea for a group, and I'm hoping someone knows the book I'm thinking of. A boy/young man and his family are abducted by aliens, along with other human families, and put on some kind of reserve.
The aliens are notably unique by having one eye that wraps 360* around their head.
There is a fruit on the planet that if you consume it + soil of an inhabitant, you transform into that inhabitant. So to stop the aliens, he has to become one of the aliens - eats the fruit, eats some soil, becomes an alien with a 360* eye. He's able to transform back because there was some mud on his shoes, or a girl he's friends with had a pouch with some soil in it around her neck, or something.
Any ideas?
