pandemic -noun- 1. Nature's way of showing the MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of NEWLY UNEMPLOYED AMERICANS that the US is the only developed country relying on employer-based healthcare that is three times more expensive than universal healthcare solely in order to avoid that DREADED socialist label at political rallies.

NOTE #1: To avoid confusion, the socialist label should not be applied to that check from the government that you're cashing.
NOTE #2: Thank you in advance to all the PURE capitalists who will eschew government assistance, suck up the agony, and die quietly at home.

ATTORNEY GENERAL DESCRIBES STAY-AT-HOME ORDERS AS 'DISTURBINGLY CLOSE' TO HOUSE ARREST
Though Barr said the stay-at-home orders that states issued to contain the outbreak were necessary as the virus began spreading across the U.S., he described them as "disturbingly close to house arrest" and said states must soon begin replacing the orders with more targeted restrictions.
Gee whiz, bucko! Trump wants to open the economy. Ergo... Do you think it's possible that AG Barr could possibly, maybe, just a tad, only a little bit compare the state governors' attempt to save lives in more glowing terms.
The comparison to cancer later in this interview was also a nicetoady touch.

Seriously, we couldn't do better than this guy?

ATTORNEY GENERAL DESCRIBES STAY-AT-HOME ORDERS AS 'DISTURBINGLY CLOSE' TO HOUSE ARREST"
If house arrest is similar to stay-at-home orders for a pandemic, then that means house arrest is not NEARLY as miserable an experience as it should be. Perhaps house arrest participants should be forced to wear shock collars that activate at random times for no reason.

Canadian PM Trudeau Bans All Assault-Style Firearms
The ban includes "1,500 models and variants," including the popular AR-15 rifle. It will prohibit those firearms, as well as some components, from being used, sold or imported."
Gutsy, and popular with the Nature Conservancy crowd. Seriously, Canadian deer are resting much easier now that Canadian sportsmen can't fire 600 rounds a minute at them. ...er...uh...
Nevermind.

Republicans devote $20m and 50,000 people to efforts to restrict voting
The Republican National Committee has allocated $20m so far to oppose Democratic lawsuits across the country seeking to expand voting. Republicans are also seeking to recruit up to 50,000 people in 15 key states to serve as poll watchers and challenge the registration of voters they believe are ineligible..."
disenfranchisement -noun- 1. the state of being deprived of a right or privilege, especially the right to vote.
2. Chapter One of the white paper on GOP election strategy.
3. Republican formula for handling those pesky brown people who didn't get gerrymandered.
HOWEVER...
To be fair, there may be one positive aspect: jobs.
ARE YOU ONE OF THE MILLIONS OF CURRENTLY UNEMPLOYED????
If you have no respect for democracy and can spell 'disenfranchisement', the GOP is hiring!

It may reflect on my state of mind, or maybe on the state of politics, but when I looked at my notifications, I saw that there were now posts on the "politically incoherent" thread.

Actually, "politically incoherent" would make a great thread!
Consider how difficult it is to ferret out the truth from today's media. One has to avoid the rags like Breitbart and National Enquirer; filter media that favors bias over truth like Fox "News" and National Review; rely on your gag reflex to separate narcissistic drivel like People Magazine, Facebook and Twitter from genuine news; and place trust, but not blind trust, in the fact checkers on reliable news sources like The New York Times and The PBS Newshour.
No matter what you do these days, finding out what's really going on in Washington from today's "incoherent" media is a lot of work.
Now, here's how the above relates to my Top Ten Reasons for Drinking...

I like politically incoherent, too. Maybe I should change the name of the thread? At least for the remainder of Trump's presidency?

I agree, Joel. It's been a while since the television campaign ads have been referred to as 'age spots'.
