Sunday school just hasn't been the same since the kids downloaded that calculator app.

Damn you, Billy!

Damn you, Billy!

And it will never be the same again.
Damn you, Billy!"
Not a fan of Paul Ryan, in fact, I can't even watch the video of this, but I did enjoy a few of the jokes he told at the Al Smith Dinner.
Kudos to whoever wrote them.
"Every morning, I wake up in my office and scroll Twitter to see which tweets I will have to pretend that I didn't see later."
"I know last year at this dinner Donald Trump offended some people with his comments, which critics said went too far. Some said it was unbecoming of a public figure and that his comments were offensive. ... Well, thank God he's learned his lesson."
"Everyone will report what happened here tonight differently. Breitbart will lead with 'Ryan slams the president amongst liberal elites.' The New York Times will report 'Ryan defends the President in a state Hillary won.' And the president will tweet, '300,000 at Al Smith dinner cheer mention of my name.'"
"Every afternoon, former Speaker John Boehner calls me up. Not to give advice. Just to laugh."
"I learned how to handle insults. Steve Bannon said I was born in a petri dish at the Heritage Foundation. This is amazing — no one knew Steve believed in science."
I'm assuming none of these will endear him to Trump who is not known for having a sense of humor.

Thank you for sharing. I couldn't watch--I go into PTSD sometimes and it's ugly. I so appreciate the laughs!

Somewhat arguable. If you consider Trump's entire administration a joke...

Saudi Arabia will allow women to attend sporting events in stadiums
Starting next year, women will be allowed to attend sporting events in stadiums for the first time.
UNBELIEVABLE!!! Keep this up and pretty soon Saudi women will be demanding the right to use their husband's TV remote.

House GOP releases sweeping tax overhaul plan
The tax overhaul is Republicans’ top priority ahead of next year’s elections, and lawmakers are desperate for a victory after the Obamacare repeal failed.

If you mean running for office, remember the average American can't scrape up enough pennies to get involved in politics. Most of us need a day job...
Could this be the most accurate headline of the year????

Looks about right.

Well, small local positions come cheap, and very part time. I've been serving on the school board for 8 years now, and spent about $100 of my own money for my reelection (I was appointed the first time as--illustration of Scott's point--no one wanted to run). It takes a few hours a week; less most of the time, more at a few key times of year. And local offices are hugely important. I would encourage anyone to consider getting involved on that level (okay, I know it's harder in big cities, but for the rest of us, there aren't that many excuses).
That said, I cannot go on to higher office. Not only do I hate politics, I suck at it. And I have a fair amount of face-blindness, so I can't recognize the people who schmooze with me.

I think I may have some face blindness also. It takes me many encounters to lock in someone.
Despite the ruling of the Olympic Committee, Russia firmly denies doping their athletes....although, some evidence is pretty hard to refute.

Good headlines are supposed to entice the reader to continue reading the article.
Is honesty enticing????
GOP rewards the rich, rips off the rest of us
Republican leaders in Congress make no secret of prioritizing tax cuts for their wealthy donors and corporate allies over the needs of people who work for a living. ...a reverse Robin Hood tax plan...
However, other headlines do not appear to entice any readers in the Oval Office or on Capitol Hill.
Donations pour in for 7-year-old girl after letter to Santa asking for blanket, food
EDINBURG, Texas - A 7-year-old’s heartbreaking letter to Santa asking for a blanket, ball and food, brought in hundreds of donations to help her and other impoverished children at her school.
We're the richest country on the planet, but aside from that, who are we really?

By Jove, we do have the best government that money can buy!

PS. Anyone who still believes this is a simplification of the tax code hasn't read the new 500+ page bill.

Maybe he should talk to the economists who are still waiting for the Reagan trickledown to kick in.

Well, as far as I can tell, no one in Congress has read it. Certainly they didn't before voting--it wouldn't have been physically possible to do so.

World's richest 500 see their wealth increase by $1tn this year
Ultra-rich warned of ‘strike-back’ as global inequality hits a 100-year high and billions of poorer people see their earnings stagnate
The wealthiest 500 billionaires increased their wealth by only 1 trillion dollars in 2017! Shocking! It sounds like those poor bastards need a tax cut.

Sadly, I have to agree.

Not sure those 'poor bastards' need a tax cut, but they'll be getting one all the same.
Stephen K. Bannon leaves Breitbart after blowup over comments in Trump book

Gee, I guess you can't make a career out of disparaging all the members of your own political party. Who knew?
