message 126: by Andrew (new)

Andrew I live in France and am about to head off on a few weeks of August summer holidays. So hopefully I might make my way through at least some of the list. I am reading Past the Shallows right now and it is ripping me apart - as a Tassie boy who knew Hobart and the Channel area well, I love all the references and memories it is stirring up (although sadly my kindle edition seems to have been 'dubbed' into American - whoever calls a show bag a goodie bag or a Dagwood dog a corn dog!) and yet the story is so terribly sad. It is a beautiful book.

1) The book that's been on your list the longest The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
2) A book recommended by a GR friend The Martian by Andy Weir
3) A book from your favourite genre The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith
4) A book with over 400 pages The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North
5) A book by an author new to you The Silent Stars Go By by Dan Abnett
6) The book you want to read the most Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann
7) A book by a male author The Humans by Matt Haig
8) A book by one of your favourite authors The Devil's Star by Jo Nesbø
9) A book by a female author Past the Shallows by Favel Parrett
10) A book with a cover you love Wonder by R.J. Palacio

One of the most enjoyable I've read this year, The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin gets 5★s from me. A lot has been posted about it on GR, so my review is brief.
