I just looked it up! It looks like it has had about 6 episodes so far...
Vampire, Werewolf, and Ghost!!!! :) Sounds like my kind of show!

stormhawk | 1184 comments I work in the evening, so I don't get to watch as much TV as I would like. I time-shift some of my viewing, but it's hard to introduce me to a new show, since I don't see many of the commercials for the new season. It's weird, because I used to be all ABOUT watching tv, back when I worked in the daylight and had a relatively normal life. No, nothing bit me!

I love

House
Law and Order (also SVU and CI)

I enjoy

Lie to Me

I'm more likely to watch past seasons of a series on DVD than new TV these days, and even that's rare.

I'm trying to watch The Tudors online, because my BF recommended it.

message 54: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) I don't have cable so I'm a strict network tv person.
Favorites:
Bones
Ghost Whisperer
Grey's Anatomy (as long as I have a book to read)
Law & Order SVU
Brothers And Sisters
HIMYM
Used to watch CSI but since Grissom left I won't

I'm sure there are more but I can't think of them. I usually have at least one show every night I watch.
I did start watching Defying Gravity on Sunday. Don't know if it's a series or a mini-series but it's good..sci-fi stuff.
I don't have WB so I haven't watched Supernatural in awhile. I've been meaning to rewatch them on DVD from the library. I also own all of Buffy and Angel and watch those at least once a year.

I have to say that I am enjoying "Defying Gravity"...Has anyone else been watching it?

I missed it last night. Was it good?! I tried to sleep because I was so tired (didn't work tho).

Kristina | 778 comments CSI is the worst show ever. It's so ridiculous. I don't really watch t.v. but I am on the 5th DVD of True Blood Season 1. Good stuff.

Nathaniel (nathaniel_) Things I won't miss (no cable, no DVR for me)

Big Bang Theory, Survivor. They're locked in.

I skipped Idol last year. The rest sort of depends on schedule; They put like six of my shows on Monday last year. I'll watch eventually on DVD One Tree Hill, 24, The Simpsons, American Dad, Gossip Girl, Fringe, Brothers & Sisters, The Office, HIMYM, House, FNL, Idol, Biggest Loser (the most bloated, drawn out worthless one hour reality show stretched to two hours ever), the last season of Monk, Weeds, In Plain Sight, Mad Men (Retro Interior Decorating Porn), Californication, True Blood (Vampire Porn), the Tudors (Royalty Porn).

Yes, it's true, I'm a TV slut, and after reviewing the list its a little surprising I'm still smarter than an houseplant -- perhaps not by a wide margin, though.

message 60: by Nathaniel (last edited Aug 20, 2009 05:33AM) (new)

Nathaniel (nathaniel_) Season 2 of Californication shows up Tuesday on DVD, along with a million other things. Most notably, out of the wayback machine Season 1 of thirtysomething - the best show ever about overanalyzing your belly button lint, and molesting your feelings about said belly button lint.

message 61: by Mawgojzeta (new)

Mawgojzeta Has anyone seen the show "Hung" that recently started on HBO? My boyfriend "forced" me into watching a couple of episodes. I wanted to hate it on principle, but am finding it quite enjoyable.

message 62: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) Don't you hate when the man in your life suggests something "good" for a change? It screws up the balance. lol

message 63: by Mawgojzeta (new)

Mawgojzeta Elvia wrote: "Don't you hate when the man in your life suggests something "good" for a change? It screws up the balance. lol"

Haha! This was the issue: It is a series about a male prostitute with a female pimp. Of course, it is all about love and hard work and overcoming obstacles, blah blah blah. It is all "feel-good" and "honorable" with a bit of humor. You like all the characters. Everyone is good-at-heart. Could you see that being a successful show if the prostitute was a woman and the pimp a man???? No.

And that bothers me. It bothers me even more that I like the show.

message 64: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) I completely see where you're coming from on that! You'd NEVER see a show where the woman was the prostitute...at least not any time soon!

message 65: by Mawgojzeta (new)

Mawgojzeta And, if there was a show she would be:
A drug addict
Raped
Beaten
Poor, pathetic single mother
Uneducated
Etc.
(probably several of these above)

It would certainly not be "feel-good" and "honorable" filled with with characters you like.

message 66: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) Nope definitely not...that feels more like Law & Order.

I have never heard of "Californication". LOL I guess I am going to have to look that one up! :)

LOL Whenever my hubby forces me to watch something, and I end up liking it...I'm terrible and pretend I hate it. Then I get to grumble without him saying "I told you so", and I still get to watch it. Hehehe I'm bad! I think he does the same to me though, so its okay...right?

message 68: by Nathaniel (new)

Nathaniel (nathaniel_) Joy --

Californication (Showtime) David Duch.....Mulder... and Natasha McElhone ("Possesion") he's a struggling writer, semi-irresponsible, with a wandering eye, going through marital problems (McElhone), and trying to raise a teenage daughter. His wandering eye causes him professional problems in the first season, and the relationship with the wife in on again off again.

Mulder gets to sort of play the "Gregory House" role...he gets to be mean, and uncensored, and piss people off on a regular basis.

It's a good show, a bit randy, and has some fun twist and turns to it.

(The cast had an interesting off season between season 1 and 2 -- Mulder went into rehab and McElhone lost her doctor husband suddenly-- I don't think it was an car accident or anything, I think he collapsed and died, I believe while she was pregnant.)

Do you ever watch How I met your mother and the big bang theory? I like watching those too! Two and a Half men is great though. I watch all three of those shows with my hubby. :)

message 76: by Elvia (new)

I was looking up all the shows, and I am so upset, because some of my shows are on at the same time! I can only record 2 shows on my DvR at a time. :(

Is anyone going to tune into Vampire Diaries on the 10th?

message 79: by Cindi (new)

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) What about the new show with my fav vamp from "Moonlighting" called "Three Rivers"? Alex plays a transplant surgeon and it sounds incredible.

message 80: by Arch (new)

Arch | 870 comments I like to watch:

1. Psych

2. Law and Order: CI: The episodes with Bobby. I love Bobby.

3. House, which I haven't watch in a while. House is a character

4. Law and Order: SVU

5. Being Human: I don't believe in vampires, ghosts or werewolves, but I like this show. Mitch - the vampire is cute. The show is very good. You will get some laugh out of it. Leave it to BBCA to make a good show like this.

6. Greek. I haven't really watched this show in a while. I like the nerd.

7. CSI Miami: When they play the old episodes with Speed. I love me some Speed. I'll watch some of the later and new episodes.

8. Saving Grace. I only check it out for Butch.

I think I might check out this show...my M-I-L and I had a crush on him from Moonlight so I'll at least watch the first episode.

A lot of the new shows I would like to watch are on at the same time as many of my old faves and I don't have a dvr so I'm torn. I'll probably just stick with my old shows.

Barbara (moochgoddess) | 92 comments I have been watching Vampire Diaries on the CW. I love it! I am actually off to go and grab the books right now. The show is great though. I would def. say check it out.

message 90: by Julianna (new)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 654 comments I'm loving Vampire Diaries. It's a lot better than I was expecting it to be, but since I haven't read the books, I think I went into it without any preconceived notions. I've only seen the first episode of Flash Forward, but I really liked it. After a weird, so-so third season, it seems that Heroes may be getting back on track, and I've been enjoying it again too. Other than those three, I'm way behind on my TV viewing. I have lots of episodes of other shows recorded but haven't had the time to watch them or I'm waiting for the DVD to come out. We just started watching last season's Dollhouse on DVD and are really liking it.

message 91: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) Joy, I really like Flash Forward, too. It's a good show. I want to read the book.
I watched Cougar Town and The Middle. Freakin' hysterical, cheesy comedy!

There are a lot of new shows out, which ones do you like?

Some more recent shows I have started watching...
Mike & Molly- If you like Big Bang Theory or How I met your Mother... you would probably like this. I laugh throughout the whole show!
No Ordinary Family- The family ends up with superhuman abilities. Not sure if I like it yet, but it's cute
The Gates- I LOVE any show with vamps, werewolves, and witches

I'm sure there are more but these are the three that are standing out in my head right now.

I used to watch House religiously... However, I stopped after last season b/c I felt the show lost some of its luster. Is the new season any better?

I just started watching "The Walking Dead" too, and I'm really liking it! It's slow moving, but manages to stay interesting. :)

message 100: by Steven (new)

Steven Belanger | 43 comments Joy, the new season of House is better because House and Cuddy have finally gotten together in a (mostly) believable way. Her detective boyfriend is gone; he was a distraction anyway. 13's taking some time off, which is too bad, and her replacement doesn't seem to be a permanent character. Since House himself has taken on the reigns of producer, the series is broadening his character, but to the detriment of the supporting cast. I still like the show, but I doubt it'll last more than another couple of years. Still better than most out there.
