Megan Anderson (ms_anderson) | 1464 comments Unfortunately, the only list for A is the one in the task. I'd be careful using the artist list, too, for any of the other options since I know from experience that the author is the only one who counts when claiming a task (ex. Joss Whedon is straight, so even if an illustrator for one of his gns was LGBT, the book wouldn't work).

If you're looking for a graphic novel for option A, I know Mariko Tamaki IS on the other list, so you could use her. She seems to be the only one, though.

Jennifer W | 466 comments Can I get Kitty Genovese: The Murder, the Bystanders, the Crime that Changed America approved for option B?

For anyone who likes politics, a good book for option B is Barney Frank's recent autobiography, Frank: A Life in Politics from the Great Society to Same-Sex Marriage

Since it'll work, I'll add it to the list.

Thanks! I already have! I would recommend it to others who want to use it for option B, too.

Let me check with the mods on this one. The only place where I'm seeing her LGBT status is from the link you posted, and I want to make sure that it's enough, since that's a meetup group and not an official bio or interview.

Having discussed this with the mods, I'm afraid it won't work. There doesn't seem to be any mention of her being LGBT outside of the link you posted, even on her offical website or in any interviews. I hope you can find another place for it!

Cait S | 738 comments I know, right?! It's been on my TBR list forever so I'm looking forward to finally having a spot for it :D

message 69: by Emily (new)

Emily | 782 comments Okay, so I said I wasn't going to use Ellen Hopkins for all three books, but now I'm going to ask - is that okay to do?

I'm using one of her GLBT books for Option 1, so can I then pick Option C twice and read two more of her books? (One of them is also GLBT, if that makes it any better. Hehe.)

I actually did read Frog Music, and I was going to use that for Option B, but I can use Frog Music for another task, and I'm trying to fit one more Ellen Hopkins book into the Challenge, and can't find a place for it. :(
