Frederick #19 - I don't know if series would count, but if they do, I'd recommend the Millers books by Mildred A. Martin, and the "Dragons in our Midst" series by Bryan Davis.

I read it (free PDFs file) after it was mentioned here.
Quite captivating - there's a lot to think about but an easy read.
