That's a nice one, Ascalon. Have you read his THE NAME OF THE ROSE? It is awesome!
So late to the party, but I read a few pages of Hunger Games at Fully Booked a few days ago. Seems like my kind of thing! I hope I find a cheap copy somewhere.
Mina wrote: "So late to the party, but I read a few pages of Hunger Games at Fully Booked a few days ago. Seems like my kind of thing! I hope I find a cheap copy somewhere."Hi Mina! There are paperback copies na but they're kind of flimsy. NBS has the hardboard for 20% off I think :)
On to topic, reading two books now:
Love Starts with Elle by Rachel Hauck
Hunger by Jackie Kessler
The second book is an ARC ebook from NetGalley. If you don't mind reading books, it's a great place to get advance reader copies. :)
Okay, started reading The Hunger Games in anticipation and preparation to the much awaited launched of the third and final book in the series. Here's to hoping it'll be a good read! ^_^
I just finished The Hunger Games, and enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would :)Right now, I'm reading Sense and Sensibility. I just LOVE Jane Austen.

That's what sales are for!
And just started Mrs. Mis-marriage by Noelle Chua.
Currently reading The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde (ebook) and gradually digesting All I Really Need to Know... by Robert Fulghum (paperback).
Louize wrote: "Currently reading The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde (ebook) and gradually digesting All I Really Need to Know... by Robert Fulghum (paperback)."Have fun reading The Eyre Affair! Jasper Fforde is one of my favorite authors. :)
Same here, Bluemoon. Book 1 is a lot better than Book 2. I wonder how Book 3 will turn out. Few more days!
Tina wrote: "Have fun reading The Eyre Affair! Jasper Fforde is one of my favorite authors. :) "Thanks Tina. It's my first book of his, and I'm enjoying it so far. I like reading alternative worlds.
Louize wrote: "gradually digesting All I Really Need to Know... by Robert Fulghum (paperback)."Have fun reading Fulghum, he's one of my favorites and "Kindergarten" is his wittiest, hilarious book I've read. I specially like his character sketch of Mother Teresa and you'll ceratainly salivate when he begins to talk about Fried Chicken Steak! ^_^
jzhunagev wrote: "I specially like his character sketch of Mother Teresa and you'll certainly salivate when he begins to talk about Fried Chicken Steak!"I was already through with the Fried Chicken Steak. I'm not really fond of that, but like what Fulghum said: "You eat yours, I'll eat mine."
Sobrang addict ako sa Kindergarten, I gave title to every short story. So far, favorites ko 'yung Trees, Russians, Gummy Lump, Sardines, and A Mermaid.

Plus, he updated some of them and even included some new essays. It's more like a DVD director's cut of a film. Hehehe... ^_^

I think I'll hunt for that copy.

It's a cool series although it has a few books that makes the story dragging but by then you'd have been hooked already that it wont matter anymore.

I just finished Mockingjay, I actually did a readathon, Hunger Games, Catching Fire and then Mockingjay. Right now I want to read some light happy-happy novels, especially those books really depressed me.
Currently juggling two books again:The Crepe Makers' Bond by Julie Crabtree - light middle grade book, ARC from Netgalley
Unwind by Neal Shusterman - because everyone seemed to have read this already except me. :P
Tina wrote: "Unwind by Neal Shusterman - because everyone seemed to have read this already except me. :P"Haven't read that one yet Tina.
Ace lend me his book.
And thanks by the way for lending me Demon by Tosca Lee.
Come to think of it, what's with devils lately with me. The book that Godfather Ace gave me has a demon character too. Oh yeah! That comes with being a horror fan I suppose. Ahehehe! :D
Thanks Tina!

I just didn't really liked Mockingjay. The trilogy didn't just really impressed me. Sorry guys.
Anyway, I'm reading
. It's funny and a light read. I really like Sachar's style here; his prose is right on! Well unlike Collins's fragmented words that badly in need of a good editor. Urgh!Anyway, my warm regards and happy reading to all TFG peeps!!! ^_^

I loved Demon. :) I have a review of it on my site, but it's kind of short, and I feel that it doesn't give this justice. Tosca is a really good writer, and she's very friendly, too! Here's the story on why she wrote Demon: http://www.shereads.org/2010/08/why-i... :)
Thanks for the link, Tina!Tosca Lee, ahhh my kind of woman: Beauty and Brains whilst I'm Brawn-less and Brain-less...
Ahahaha! :D

Hahah hindi naman :)) Her second book is about Eve (as in Adam and Eve) which I have yet to read. I can't wait for her third book though, it's about Judas Iscariot. :D

I really like how she spins Catholic themes in modern settings. This is what I have in mind when I suggest that you go and do a Catholic-Themed books for October. Not the oh-sooo overtly Chrisitan-Catholic religious books we've come to know commonly.
But still as a moderator the choice is still up to you, Tina.

I'd recommend her book for October but I don't think it's readily available here. I had to have my copy of Demon ordered through my dad so I can read it.
Its ebook is free for a limited time, though (http://bit.ly/dqDPWL), but I know not everyone likes reading through ebooks.

Demon by Tosca Lee seems interesting Tina. It is only now that I come to know the existence of Catholic-themed fiction books. Thanks! :)
