I feel the same way. The story did not move the way I expect to, nasanay ako na fast-paced 'yung series e.
I hope Warlock will pick up.

Apokripos (apokalypse) | 3321 comments Whew! After 10 days, finally done reading Ilustrado: A Novel by Miguel Syjuco

Currently reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee in celebration of the book's 50th Anniversary since its publication.

The first few pages are light and fun read as we enter the life of precocious Scout Finch’s early capers with his brother Jem and friend Dill, all the while subtly building the themes that will underscore the novel later.

I was amused to find that in Chap. 3 of the book there's an incident when Ms. Caroline, Scout's teacher, squealed in fright when she saw a head lice on one of her students. And know what, they call it "cootie." Now this got me thinking, is the Southern slang "cootie" in any way the etymological root word of our Filipino term "kuto"? I don't know but there seems to be some semblance to it. What do you think?

Could it be that cutie is not from cute but cootie, too? "

Yeah, I'm also thinking along those lines...

Ehehehe... :D

haha, oo nga no. Cooties does sound like kuto.
I loved To Kill A Mockingbrd too, both the book and the movie. What really gets me the most though is Scout's neighbor, whose loosely based on lee's childhood friend & further author Truman Capote. Its fun seeing glimpses of how they were as kids and then comparing that to what they've become. ehehehe

Hi Maryse!

In a way Dill is perhaps a reference to a young Capote. Those that mean that when Truman was a child he promised that he'll marry Harper?
But the vicissitudes prevented that as we've seen from Capote's sexual orientation...

Ehehehe... :D

Hear hear. It's hard to find boys who read books for fun, period. At least, in my circle of friends before I met you guys. :)

On topic: currently re-reading Catching Fire for a review and in preparation for Mockingjay. I forgot how intense this book is.

Looking for a lighter book to read together with this one, though. Choosing between Looking for Alaska by John Green or Audrey Wait! by Robin Benway.
