The Elite ----- middle of ch. 2 (view spoiler)[ I hate how America is pretty much playing Maxon and Aspen. I know it's a hard thing but she is not handling this right.

I love Queen Amberly. She is so sweet and you can tell that she likes American over the other girls. And she knows her son and knows what he likes. (hide spoiler)]

Finished chapter 8 (view spoiler)[I have a feeling it was very foolish of America to tell her father about the hidden room and the diaries. Since he had books of his own, that he knew went against the law, he could be part of the rebel movement somehow. Though if he is, I hope it's part of the Northern rebels and not the Southern. Also, why was he gone for so long during the party? The only reason I can think of is he was looking for the hidden room.

I loved how shocked America's mother was when she learned of how America has been treating the Prince. LOL, just too funny!

The scene where May and Lucy are talking with each other, and May did Lucy's hair, was cute. It was nice seeing Lucy so relaxed. (hide spoiler)]

Finished chapter 9 (view spoiler)[Wow! What a scene! As badly as I feel for Marlee and Woodwork, because that was just a horrible punishment, they both knew the rules and should have abided by them. All Marlee had to do was ask Maxon to let her leave, and I'm sure he would have let her. Maybe she was afraid her parents wouldn't let them be together, but this was just terrible. And why weren't the maids allowed to tell America what was happening? Was Maxon, or the King or Queen, afraid she wouldn't show if she knew? (hide spoiler)]

Finished chapter 16 (view spoiler)[It's funny how that girl bowed to America. Wonder if that was as a mockery or because she knows something else about her, such as her father's part of their cause maybe?

I'm curious why Maxon's being so distant with America. I get that he wants to be fair, but the at the same time why get rid of so many girls so quickly in the beginning if wanted to be fair? Why only now? Are parents pushing this?

It's so foolish that Aspen, right after Marlee's Punishment, sets up a private meeting with America at night. Is he thrying to get them in trouble too? (hide spoiler)]

Finished chapter 24 (view spoiler)[I wonder what Anne said that made Lucy so upset. Whether it was about a man, maybe an officer (such as Aspen), that had been showing an interest in her or something else.

That's one of the things I hate about reality dating shows, the way the one choosing winds up having feelings for more than one person. I wonder if America had had no doubts in the beginning if he still would've felt it was necessary to spend more time with the other girls? (hide spoiler)]

Finished (view spoiler)[What was she thinking, bringing that diary with her like that! I get she was angry with Maxon but she didn't hate him, even then, so why would she do something so foolish...when he told her they were to be kept secret.

I was so happy when the King said he should have shown him the books sooner, because that meant Maxon wasn't as familiar with the books as America had assumed he was and that he might actually not even have had time to have read them all yet. I sure hope that's the case.

I can't believe his "father" abuses him like that! He really has an anger issue and I hope he either changes it soon or losses his crown.

I was so surprised when Maxon was going to send America home, didn't think that was going to happen. So when he showed up by the door as she was just about to leave the palace I wasn't expecting anything more than a goodbye, but was super happy when he said that he had found a way for her to stay. :)

I think Lucy and Aspen would be a cute couple, especially after seeing him comforting her when they were all concerned about America and Maxon's safety.

I have a feeling Aspen's not going to be too happy when he learns that America is staying, but I don't care. I'd really like to see America and MAxon together, so I really hope that's what will happen.

I think America is right about the rebels being after the diaries, or maybe even some other books that are even more revealing that those. Especially with the way the King, who must have read them all, shut down the television cameras the moment he saw the diary. (hide spoiler)]

Finished 8(view spoiler)[Why does America have to be so afraid to say her feelings? I get that she's unsure if he feels the same way, but if she keeps pushing him away all she's doing is hurting herself and possibly wrecking her chances with him.

I see that Kriss is ready to play dirty too. She said that she wanted to save her first kiss for her fiancee, so she could have the same experience as many of her family, but now that she's worried about losing Maxon she lets him kiss her.

I liked learning more about the rebels and what they want. It's neat that the Northerners are descended from Spencer and that he didn't die as everyone believes, just hid out because he didn't agree with his father. I think they're cause is a good one, but I can see why the king wouldn't like them. (hide spoiler)]

Finished 16 (view spoiler)[I like how America insisted upon going with Maxon, as it showed how much she cared about him, but in a way she wasn't necessary and just made it doubly easier for people to recognize them and so that made it more dangerous.

I like how Maxon wanted to learn the maids' names, after not knowing who Anne was. I felt badly for both Maxon and Aspen whe Maxon tried to help Aspen in his relationship, not knowing that the relationship was with America. I wonder if America will ever tell Maxon who he really is?

I'm curious to see how Aspen will react when/if America tells him of Anne's feelings for him and if he'll be open to returning them.

I have this though that America will invite one or two of the women from Italy as her guests to the tea party. If only one maybe the other will be her mother or sister. Otherwise, if neither of these, maybe she'll take Celeste up on her offer, which was a very kind and unexpected gesture on her part - I was very surprised by it. I'm actually starting to not hate Celeste - didn't think I'd ever say that! LOL! (hide spoiler)]

Finished 24 (view spoiler)[So sad that America's father died! And that it had to happen so close to Christmas too, that holiday will never be the same for them. (I have this crazy thought that he's not really dead, but now that his family is more financially secure he went to join the rebel movement. Though I'm not sure for what purpose and it is a very crazy idea, so probably not. It would just be nice for America if it were.)

I like how America gave that man his freedom, because his crime was such a small one and two's and three's could pay their way out of it had one of them committed it. Though it was sad the backlash she got from the king because of it and also, in hindsight, that she gave away the necklace her father gave her. I'm sure she'll miss that. It'd be nice if Maxon finds a way to give that back to her.

I LOVED the scene with the girls and the camera they got from Maxon! I thought it was hilarious when they just grabbed the camera from him and then slammed the door in his face! :)

I feel badly for the Queen, because I don't believe she knows the depths of her husband's cruelty, I think if she knew about the beatings Maxon had received from him she would act a little differently...even though Maxon did say she has to deal with her own cruelty towards her, I still think it'd be different for her child. Finished (view spoiler)[FINALLY! I was so scared there for a moment that Maxon and America weren't going to be together. That Maxon was going to choose Kriss. As sad as I was for the Rebel attack, I was glad it happened, because I couldn't see a way things were going to change at that point and once he chose it would've been set and almost completely impossible to change.

I was sad that Celeste died! I was starting to like her a lot!

I'm not sad the king died, but I am sorry that the Queen did. I was looking forward to learning more about her.

I'm glad that Aspen and Lucy are together! I think they are so cute together.

It was so nice that America's father wrote letters to all his children before his death. I didn't know he had a health problem, so my earlier thought of him faking his death is probably (unfortunately) definitely wrong. I thought Kota's reaction was ridiculous, but then maybe that was just his way of showing his grief.

It's nice how Maxon's was working on removing the Caste system from the moment he met America, but just in a quieter way.

I liked how Aspen gave America a way. That showed, to me, that Maxon forgave them both. It was sad that Kota wasn't there, but I have a feeling that America didn't invite him, and with his attitude after their father's funeral I don't blame her.

And yes Maxon and America are together!!! Yes. Together they are so cute.

I did not like Celeste and she did not deserve to die.

Poor Maxon losing his parents. He was close to his mother and it was sad she had to die.

I love that Erik stood up to Josie when she asked how Henri lived. That girl is a brat!! Eadlyn can be stuck up but Josie is just down right rude and mean. (hide spoiler)]

The Heir - done ----- (view spoiler)[ I love this book. This was nice. The first 3 books were from the point of view of America and the other selected. Now we have it from the point of view from the princess. Different but amazing.

I loved the part with her brothers after the attack she had with Jack. And the baseball scene!! Loved it.

The ending was sad. Can't believe her brother ran off. And her poor mom. At least all the boys came to pray.

The Queen (view spoiler)[ I loved this short story. Seeing the queen and the king before they got married and had Maxon is a nice touch. The difference between Amberly and Clarksons mom is strong. Amberly was sweet and kind to the girls that might have married Maxon while Clarksons mom was rude and harsh and mean.


Nice to see how Clarksons loved Amberly even with the chance she might be unable to have kids. (hide spoiler)]

The Prince (view spoiler)[ this is my favorite short story. It provides us with Maxon pov and his side of the first meeting with America. Love seeing Maxons point of view. (hide spoiler)]

The Guard (view spoiler)[ don't like this one. Have not been a fan of Aspens and hate that he was confusing America end messing with her. (hide spoiler)]

The Favorite (view spoiler)[ Sweet little Marlee. This was a great short story and one of my favorite. This was great. I loved that Marlee and Carter were the first two to become casteless. (hide spoiler)]

Scenes from Celeste (view spoiler)[ Celeste came off as a brat and a horrible person but after reading these three scenes, especially the 3rd one, my views on her changed. It makes me feel bad for what happened to her. (hide spoiler)]
