SS Vicious & Delicious - Week 4
Title/Author: Chain Reaction by Simone Elkeles
Spot #: 33
Series #: 3 + Black Cover :)
Date finished: 3/3/14
Rating: ★★
Review: I really wish I hadn't read this book.
I loved the first book in the series and was OK with the second one but this! Both main characters couldn't be more annoying and Luis' mother wins an award for dumbest mother ever. So your sons have had problems with a gang, you escape that and then you decide to go back at a time when your youngest son could be more vulnerable?
And don't talk to me about the "Who's the father" stupid plot. I wanted to wring Luis' neck.
Glad it's over but don't recommend it at all. Just read the first book and keep it at that.
SS Team Vicious & Delicious - Roll #4
Title & Author: The Knight (The Patrick Bowers Files #3) by Steven James
Series: #3
Spot #: 33
Rating: 5 stars
Finished: March 7
Review:
I think this is my favorite of The Patrick Bowers Files novels I've read so far. I loved every scene with Tessa in it, she's my favorite character, and all the other scenes were great too.
The crimes in this one were really interesting. The reason why they were happening the way they were was intriguing and not what I was expecting at first.
While this book was no where near as gruesome as Opening Moves , it still was pretty gruesome at times - though it didn't bother that much this time.
If you are looking for an intense criminal thriller I suggest you read this series.
Team Vicious & Delicious: Roll #4
Hammered by Kevin Hearne
Spot: #33
Series: #3
Finished: 3/2/12
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
Review:
Hammered is the third book in the Iron Druid Chronicles. It's just as awesome as the first two, but it ends more than it concludes anything. I still love the mixing of mythologies. I mean, Atticus ends up in a bar fight with Jesus and then goes off to fight the Norse lightning god with the Russian lightning god (and some others). I can't wait to read the fourth book.
LOL, Jennifer! I attempted to post this morning 'I bet Jen PP will pick Iron Druid Chronicles #3 for this' but GR ate it!!Glad to see I was right! :)
SS Team Vicious & Delicious - Roll #4Book: Cress
Series # or Alternate: #3
Spot: #33
Rating: 5 stars
Finished: 3/7/14
Review: I absolutely love this series. There was a lot more death in this one than in the previous two in the series. I was really sad about (view spoiler) especially. The Winter introduction was interesting. I half read and half listened to this book and I happened to listen to the Winter part. I think the voice that was used made her sound extra crazy. I guess that's what not using your powers does to you. I wonder how they will incorporate her into the story. I knew Levana wasn't just going to go away peacefully. I'm not sure how they are going to fix this mess that they are in now. They really are at the beginning of a war. Now I have a long time to wait for Winter! :(

I decided to switch my book already, LOL! That way I can use it for another challenge that starts tomorrow. :)

Review:
This book was fast going and was a bit different than the other parts of this series. I can´t really put my finger to it. Maybe it was not as elaborate. However I also liked this book. I seem to like books where people endure hardships, but still manage to fight through it and manage not to get beaten down by it. Possibly, because I would like to be this way also. The Cemetery of Forgotten Books was not really a character this time, which is a shame, because it felt like a magical place in the other books. Wouldn´t it be awesome if Barcelona started to built such a thing beneath the city, I would die of happiness! I imagine I will read The Angel´s game different after this one.
I finished on Monday...just need to post my review.ETA: Posted! https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I wanted to kill both characters. I'm really upset I read it because I loved that first book and this one sort of mangled the series.
I'm almost done with my book. I'll post my review tonight. I just wanted to give you guys a heads up about the roll tomorrow too. I have a vacation day tomorrow, so I won't be up before 7 to roll. I can still roll as soon as I get up, unless someone else would like to take over the roll for me this week. DG ~ I know that you're always up and waiting for me to roll. If you could do it, that would be great! I'll make sure that message 150 is updated so all you would need to do is post a link to that message. Either way is fine with me. I'll be back on later to post my review so let me know.
I finished. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Thanks DG!
You're right. We're still waiting for Megan. As long as she posts before morning, you can roll. I'll send her a message now. It's really late and she probably won't see it, but she hasn't posted anything since last Friday.

Review: I absolutely loved this book. It was completely horrifying though. I couldn't imagine being so terrified of your own son. I also couldn't imagine having to sleep in the same house with this monster. Kevin is scarier than anything I have ever read in any horror novel. He was so smart and could manipulate everyone but his mother. His father bought into all his fake crap and the way that he turned on Eva made my stomach turn. They had such a good marriage until Kevin came along. Sure she traveled a lot, but compared the nightmare that is Kevin, I know that Eva regretted giving in and having a child in the first place. It was a big decision for them and she sort of made the decision on her own, but only because she thought that her husband wanted it so badly. The entire story is written in letter form from Eva's POV. She is writing letters to her husband talking about events from their life before Kevin all the way through that Thursday that Kevin decided to go on a rampage at his school. This is not a spoiler. You find out that he did this at the very beginning of the book. Normally school shooters are emotional awkward kids that don't fit in and their actions are not very well thought out. Kevin planned everything in such a detailed way, that it makes you wonder just how long he had been planning this. I liked that the story was from his mother's POV, but sometimes I just wanted to know what he was thinking. I'm sure his mother did too. I would definitely recommend and now I need to watch the movie immediately!
Thanks for rolling DG! Great roll! How many are in that series that Jen PP is reading? Is it enough to get us through the whole challenge?
Jennifer C. wrote: "Thanks for rolling DG! Great roll! How many are in that series that Jen PP is reading? Is it enough to get us through the whole challenge?"There are 6 books published so I guess she'll have to pick something else when we get to the 70s!
SS Vicious & Delicious - Week 5
Title/Author:Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop
Spot #: 45
Alternate: Red Cover (confirmed it works with Jenne)
Date finished: 3/9/14
Rating: ★★★★
Review: Really liked this book...not as much as the first one but was definitely a good sequel. Here we understood a lot more of the resentment between the Others and the Humans. It's amazing how such little things can escalate until you have an all out war.
One of the questions from the last book was answered: there will be a romantic relationship between Simon and Meg.
Don't know how I'll wait until the last book in the trilogy!
My library doesn't have book number six in audio so I will probably wait until they do (hopefully they will get it in audio)
Week 5: Vicious & Delicious
Tricked by Kevin Hearne
Spot #: 45
Series #: 4
Finished: 3/8/14
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
Review:
Been on an Atticus reading spree. This installment has to be some of the best dog lovin', tree huggin', god killin' stuff yet. It unnerves me how Kevin Hearne understands and writes the mind of Oberon. I smile constantly and laugh often. All you could ask for in a fantasy world.
SS Team Vicious & Delicious - Roll #5
Title & Author: Die for Me by Amy Plum

Review:
I wasn't quite sure what this book was about when I started it, so when the one character says that they are zombies I was a little concerned - I don't like zombies! I was relieved when I found out, very shortly after in fact, that he was kidding and they aren't really zombies just have some of the same characteristics - whew!
The story was different than most books and I found it both easy to read and very enjoyable. I'll definitely be reading more in this series. :)

I'm at 70 percent and doing fine! I love this challenge, I used to read about 100 books a year a couple of years ago then private bad stressful things happened and I lowered to 28 books per year. And this challenge has me up to speed again and I am actually reading some old books I had (but that also has to do with how I have arranged my books.)
Glad you're enjoying the challenge, Tineke. Reading old books from the TBR is one of my favorite things as well. You get such a feeling of accomplishment reading a book that has been on your TBR for a while. :)
I'm at 60% and I'm loving this book so far. It's really creepy, but really good. I can't wait to watch the movie after I finish this.

An enjoyable read although the ending was somewhat abrupt and not yet finished. Will have to check the next book to see how that will end.
Jennifer C. wrote: "I'm at 60% and I'm loving this book so far. It's really creepy, but really good. I can't wait to watch the movie after I finish this."I've never heard of that book. And they're making a movie!
The movie actually came out in 2011, but I'm just now getting around to reading it. I have no idea why I've waited so long. It's amazing!
