Hmm... College? But I don't really prefer either, and you can choose.

Sounds good ^_^ I'll make my characters for this and reply to our other thread soon.

Okay :) I'd reply to both tonight but I'm getting flooded with notifications and I need to go to bed. Sorry.

Age: 19
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Occupation: High school student
Appearance:

Personality: sweet, shy, smart, snarky if she feels comfortable around you, driven
History: Raven was born with a rare kidney disease. Her kidneys have always been weak. She had to start school a year late because of them. In middle school, her medicines stopped working. She missed half of her seventh grade year being in the hospital, but managed to pass anyway.
Just over a year ago, she collapsed suddenly while out to eat with her parents. She was rushed to the hospital, where they admitted her immediately. She had to be hooked up to a dialysis machine full time; her kidneys had failed completely. She had to have a kidney transplant. Between finding a replacement kidney and recovering from the surgery and complications, she missed all of her senior year of high school. So, now, at nineteen, she's finally starting her senior year of high school. She's two years older than most of her classmates, but doesn't usually look it unless she wears make-up. As she doesn't like make-up, she rarely wears it.
Likes: reading, writing, music, being alone, men
Dislikes: TV (too much of that while in the hospital), busybodies, crowds, immaturity (so she hates high school), high school boys
Cool. Do you want my guy to be human?

But I'd like to start that one on the first day of her senior year. She can be in one of his classes, maybe last period?
Just making sure ^_^
Sounds good. Let me get my characters up in a minute. They'll be short but I'll add on to them later.

I think so. And okay, I'll add on to my characters as I work with them. Would you mind starting?

Edit: Before I do start, what subject does your guy teach?
I can start if you want me to :( I'm sorry you're not feeling well. -_- I'm sick as well; just trying to pass the time.
Hm... subject... History, I guess.
Hm... subject... History, I guess.

Are you okay with continuing this? Or no?

Raven strolled nervously towards the school. This would be her second new high school. At least here no one knew how old she was. And without make-up, she didn't look any older than the average senior. Once inside, she dug her schedule out of her purse.
First period... history with a Zionferoyn. Lord, what a last name! How was it even pronounced? She'd find out soon enough, she supposed. She wandered around lost, wishing she hadn't skipped the 'meet your teachers' day just because it was mostly for freshman.
Nearly ten minutes later, she finally found the history wing. This place was huge! She was never going to find her way around, she was sure. She glanced down at the watch on her wrist. Great. The bell was going to ring any second now and she still hadn't found her class!

Drake's old pickup rumbled down the highway, headed for another supposed siren sighting. If this was another dead end, someone was going to pay. Money was running short. If he didn't find that bitch soon, he'd have to take on another bounty. He'd hoped to have found her already, the siren who killed his father.
Once she was dead, he could get on with his life. Maybe even settle down; God knew his mother got on his case about that often enough. It wasn't like he was getting old either; twenty-three is hardly old. But she desperately wanted grandchildren, so she continued to bring the subject up. She wasn't all that old either. Just bored and lonely. She'd never so much as dated since her husband was killed ten years ago.
He had a good feeling about the town he could now see near the edge of the horizon. There was a siren here, somewhere. But was it the right one?
((I'll reply to this soon. Hopefully tomorrow.))

Avery stood outside the door to his class, nodding his head at the students coming in greeting. Most of his class was already there -he had checked his list of names, as how almost all of the kids he knew already.
Currently, he was just waiting for one student he'd been told to watch out for. Though, he didn't know why. Most of the students here were highly capable of watching out for themselves, in his opinion. In his five years of being there, he'd only had to break up two fights. He supposed that most of the fighting went around somewhere off of school grounds.
It wasn't fighting that he was told to watch out for with this particular girl. In fact, he didn't even know why they wanted him to be careful with her. He didn't see anyone else coming down the hall, so he peeked into the room to count heads. Still missing one.
He looked back out and jogged down the hall to check the next corridor, finally seeing her. She looked old for his class, he noted. "Hello," he called out. "Are you Raven?"

Gods sake, Kahea thought, watching the young sirens swimming about in the water. She wished her clan didn't have a rule about teaching at least one moon's worth of these tadpoles every year. Her time was precious to her, and she was much better suited to her normal warrior post, not training new fins to hunt down lustful mortals for whatever they needed.
But now, of course the girls decided to use her as bait. It had been argued over, the young sirens each claiming, 'I'm the prettiest, I must sit on the rock. Like in the man's story,' or some other nonsense. In the end, after Kahea had threatened to put them all on eggpool duty unless they made a decision, they chose their elder for the job.
Gods, it was hot. The ferocious sun beat down on the siren's pale skin. Why they were told to begin to hunt men down from midsun to midmoon, she had no idea. It gave her a burn.
Two sirens were position behind the rock Kahea laid on, four being hidden in a crevice just below the sand's end, and three were waiting, circling deep beneath the water. Some idiot better come along soon, or Kahea would put an end to this game.

She tucked her hair behind her ear, smiling shyly as she approached the man who'd addressed her. Can he hear my heart pounding away? I really hope not. She licked her lips, a nervous habit she hadn't yet managed to break.

Drake drove straight through town to the beach. Where else would one find a siren?
He got out of his truck and locked it up - his whole life was in there! - then headed down to the beach proper. Of course there was no sign of sirens here, at a public beach. So he headed off towards the edge of town, walking until the crowds were left far behind.
Damn it's hot here, he thought to himself. He pulled off his black t-shirt and slung it over his shoulder as he walked. After a good half-mile or so, he saw a group of rocks just off shore. He blinked against the bright reflection of sunlight off the water, unsure of what he was seeing. He shaded his eyes with his hand and took another look.
Holy fucking hell! He couldn't believe his eyes. No way was any woman that hot. He'd never seen a siren so attractive even. The one laying on the rock was the most gorgeous woman he'd ever seen. He knew she was a siren, his enemy, but his body didn't care about that. He knew he was in trouble; he had a hard-on just from looking at her!
Quite cute, Avery thought, tilting his head to the side. He wasn't allowed to think that. He was her teacher, for God's sake! He stuck out his hand to shake hers. "I'm glad to have a new student. I'm Avery-" he paused, backtracking, "I mean, I'm Mr. Zionferoyn. Mr. Zion, I guess. Kids think my name's too hard to pronounce."
"I guessed you might have been lost getting to my class," he told her. "Are you? It's just around the corner from here."
^_^_^_^
Kahea had a bored look on her face. Possibly even annoyed-looking. They'd already been waiting a few hours. How long would it take? She was grateful that warriors were never forced to train this way, wasting time on men was the most boring thing she could imagine.
Her blue-gold eyes scanned the shoreline, they paused on the only human being there. How hadn't she seen him when he'd come? That alone pissed her off, until she noticed his physical traits. Well, he was less ugly than most she'd seen, she could give him that. And his muscles? She was grateful that there were nine of the young sirens, because if there were any less she might have to help them capture him.
She almost wanted to get a better look at him. Maybe he would be well-suited for breeding before they killed him? She gave him an eerie smile, keeping the end of her fin on her tail in the water, lest she dry off and come to look like one of those gods-damned mortals that most men found less attractive than she and her kind.
Kahea let an ancient set of words slip from her still-smiling lips, a language that spoke into the water for the class of trainees to hear. Once they got the message, they would finish the job. And she could -hopefully- be free for the day.

She accepted his hand, giving it a firm, but all too brief, shake. "Yes, I did get lost. This is my first day here and this school is a lot larger than my last one, like at least twice as big. I didn't expect there to be so many hallways," she explained. "I'm guessing everyone else is in class already?" Stupid, stupid, stupid! The hall is empty! Where the hell else would everyone be? "Sorry. That was a dumb question. I'll just follow you then, I guess." I'll get to see if he looks as good from behind as he does from the front. Damn! I wish we'd met anywhere else. She swallowed a sigh. Already, she could see herself with him, could imagine being in his arms, in his bed. Signing her name Raven Zionferoyn.
This was bad. Very, very bad. She'd just met him for crying out loud! Sure he was cute, but so were several other guys at this school. Guys closer to her own age. Yet she couldn't remember a single cute face she'd seen earlier. She knew there had been several, a couple of them had given her appreciative looks too. She knew what they wanted, though, they weren't interested in anything other than getting under her skirt. An older man, though... Oh, hell, what was she thinking?
She closed her eyes very briefly - only to have a rather explicit vision of herself trapped between him and a wall somewhere, going at it like bunnies. She licked her lips as she opened her eyes and shuddering slightly from the intensity of that vision. She was pretty sure she was blushing now. What must he think of me? I probably look ready to faint! I am not going to faint, I am not.

Drake stared at the woman, his fists clenching at his side. He fought to keep still, to not just jump into the water and swim out to her, to kiss her, to have his way with her. Damned sirens!
He noticed some movements in the water around her rock and glanced down at them before returning his gaze to the siren. "Call off your guard dogs, bitch!" he called out, drawing a gun from the back waistband of his pants. Water would slow down the bullets, he knew, but he could still do a lot of damage. Besides, he could always shoot her.
The click of the safety being released reverberated from the rocks behind and beneath him. He shot the rock just a few inches beneath where she lay. The bullet sparked off the rock then bounced off into the water, harmless.
((Singing her name Destiny Zoinferoyn: Thaaat was really cute. I applaud it.))
Avery was perfectly ready to take her to his room, not only meaning his classroom. He mentally chided himself. Excuse you, Avery. This girl is a student, which is not someone to mess around with. At all. Don't even think about it. It felt kind of silly, talking to himself like a kid. But he happened to do it a lot. It seemed the only way to get important things done.
He led her down the hallway, smiling back at her once and pausing. "Are you okay?" he asked sincerely. He hoped he hadn't had his thoughts on his face. God, that would be embarrassing. Especially with a student! She could turn him in!
He had to remind himself that he hadn't actually done anything yet. Had he? Oh shit, did I just look her over? Damn! I did! She could definitely file a report now. To have the school administrators investigating him would suck. Terribly.
Deciding that he would try his hardest not to even make eye contact with Raven, he changed the subject. "Don't worry, class hasn't even really started yet. Today won't be too hard."
^_^_^_^
"You have eyes, no?" Kahea called lightly out to him, only slightly flinching from the bullet near her. This, this was definitely bad. She hadn't ever dealt with a man with a weapon like that. Many others, yes. But the shiny thing? Hades, no.
She hadn't spoken much to him, the slightly lilt to her voice slipped on accident. He made her nervous, though she made no show of it. However, her first and highest priority right now was keeping the young sirens away from him, even if he had called them off. Good, make him think it was his idea.
She slipped her hand into the water, and without a sound, the nine students slipped off towards the clan's camp to get older, more experience help. Their immortality meant nothing so far away from their lifeline. If he hit her with that weapon he had, she would probably die. Which she didn't want to do anytime soon.
But if she could just distract him long enough, maybe he would slip up and they could take the capture anyway. Without any of the clan dying.
((Wasn't he supposed to be hired to capture her for a display? Or are we over that?))

Raven had been so busy staring at his butt - and having another explicit vision involving the two of them - that she nearly ran into him when he stopped to ask if she was okay. "Oh! Yes! I'm fine. Perfectly fine," she said, all in a rush, blushing furiously. He was so close it would be the matter of half a second or less to lean up and kiss those tempting lips. She blinked, unconsciously licking her lips once more before starting to pucker them. She caught herself before she was in full ready-to-kiss mode, but only just.
Had he just looked over her again? No, not quite. Though he may well have glanced down at her cleavage. Not that she was showing off much, well percentage wise anyway. She had a bit more than most high school girls. Had for three years now. When she had to start dialysis again two years ago, one of the nurses that always helped her was male and liked to flirt. He'd joked about running away with her, and she'd giggled. It had mostly been to help her relax, she knew, because he was married. She'd seen him with his wife once. She hoped that someday someone would look at her the way he'd looked at his wife.
She shook her head slightly to drag herself out of her thoughts only to see him still looking at her. She smiled. He looked away. She frowned as she listened to him speak. "Oh, okay," she said softly. Why had he suddenly looked away like that? Had he realized she'd caught him looking at her? Maybe. And maybe he was worried she'd complain. Were she younger, she probably would. But she was old enough to date him - or would be if she weren't his student - so she wouldn't complain. Hell, he could kiss or touch her and she wouldn't complain. Not at all. She would welcome the attention.

He clicked the safety back on as he saw the shapes leaving out of the corner of his eyes.
"I would talk with you. But not out there. I'm... looking for one of your kind." Not that he could tell her he'd kill the bitch when he did find her. "Answer my questions and I'll leave." Hopefully with one less siren in the world.
((Ugh. That's crappy...
That was your idea, but I made him a bit different, so he's looking for revenge as he believes a siren killed his father - which may or may not be true. Though he could later be hired to capture a siren for display. That would be within the realm of something a bounty hunter would do. I think.))
Once they had gotten to his classroom, he opened the door for her. "Class, this is your new fellow student. Say hi," he said, striding to his desk once she had come through the door. "And because this is our first day, and we've gotten a couple transfers, we're going to play a get-to-know you game."
The class erupted into snarky murmurs about not being in elementary school, but Avery talked over them. "I'll start." He turned to the board to write on it, just for good measure. His name was long, after all. "My name is Mr. Zionferoyn, as most of you know now. But, as I've said before, Mr. Zion seems easier."
"Now, something about me. This is my third year teaching at this school. During the summer months off I am a writer." He tapped his fingers on the desk. "Who would like to go next?"
^_^_^_^
He wants to talk? How peculiar. "Fine," Kahea said, loud enough for him to hear her. "Don't point your weapon at me." Gods, it would be embarrassing if it wasn't actually a weapon. She had to outsmart this man. Maybe if she came closer...
With barely a splash of the water, Kahea slipped into the ocean, swimming as far as she could get to him before the water became too shallow and the beach claimed its own. "What would you like to discuss?"
((We don't have to play out that idea, I had just remembered it today. Let's just see how it goes, first.))

While most of the class was muttering about the get to know you game, a whisper came from behind her. She only half understood what was said, but the bit she made out caused her to blush an even deeper shade of red.
The class slowly quieted as their teacher spoke. She smiled when he said the bit about being a writer. He wasn't attractive enough, he had to be a writer as well? Looks like he works out, too. Those arms look strong. I bet they'd feel good wrapped around me, holding me tight. She probably had a stupid, dreamy smile on her face, not that she was aware of it. I wonder if he could pick me up? It would be wonderful to be carried by him. Over the threshold...
Oh! When did it get so quiet? Just as she thought that, someone else started speaking. A cheerleader named Amber. Next was a football player named Zack. She zoned out as she listened to them, dreading her own turn. What would she say? She could tell them her age, but she still wanted to keep that secret if she could. Though she did want Avery, that is, Mr. Zion to know. Maybe she would just show up really early tomorrow. That could work.

Drake watched her swim towards shore. How did she walk on land if she had a tail? His father had been killed over a hundred miles from shore. How...??
He shook himself mentally. It didn't matter how. If it wasn't this one, it was another of her kind. Maybe some of them had legs. He moved a little closer to the water, being careful to stay more than an arm's length away from the ocean. He squatted down on the rocky shore and looked into her beautiful face. "I seek one of your kind. A murderess. One who needs to pay for what she did to my fath... my family."
((Okie-dokie. I figured out what killed his father: a succubus. My thought is that a man killed by a succubus would look much like one killed by a siren. Someone jumped to conclusions. Maybe knew of sirens somehow, but not that there were other paranormal beings in the world.))
((I wish I could get to this now but I won't be able to until tonight.
Also, I was thinking that I would have part of Kahea's clan be able to shapeshift their tails into legs, as long as they were out of water.
But I like your idea for him.))

Avery absentmindedly zoned out while the students were introducing themselves, though it didn't look like he wasn't paying attention. In fact, he looked deeply enthralled by everyone telling bits about themselves. Though, if he were honest with himself, which most of the time he was, he was really thinking about Raven. He wished she were older. Not his student, even. Teacher-student relationships were strictly forbidden.
He almost laughed aloud, thinking of the time that one of his old friends had said something about being a high school teacher. We can view the menu, just not order off of it, which was inappropriate, Avery knew, but it was funny. In fact, now that he thought about it, that particular friend had been fired from his teaching position on the account of giving too much attention to his particularly attractive female students. The man had always been a womanizer, and that much Avery despised.
When he finally zoned back in, the students were almost all done. "Who's left?" he asked them, the only sign of him not having paid any attention.
^_^_^_^
"I hate to be the one to tell you this," not- "but we sirens don't keep mental logs of who we kill or take. It's just not how we operate. Your family member has long been forgotten. We all hunt and kill, but none of mine is a so-called murderess. Murder implies some sort of regret. We are not capable of regret inside of our territory."
Kahea leaned closer to him, balancing her upper body weight with her writes on the rocks below. "Now, are you sure all you wish of me is to... talk?" she asked sweetly, tilting her head and deepening her gaze.
Anything she could do to keep him distracted long enough, so that once more of her clan came to help her, they could take him. She admitted, closer now than she was before to him, he was very good looking, for a human. Perhaps she would keep him for herself. After all, she was the one here with him right now.

"Who's left?" Mr. Zion asked, bringing Raven out of her thoughts. She could feel eyes on her, many pairs of eyes. Again. Which, of course, made her blush again.
"Me... I am," she said softly. She cleared her throat before speaking again. "My name is Raven Kilpatrick. I, um, I'm not sure what to say about myself. I like to read. I write stories sometimes too. Oh! And I'm looking forward to joining my cousin Janie at U of N next year." She smiled, still blushing.
More murmurs from her classmates followed; she heard her name mentioned more than once. Then she heard that same masculine voice whispering from behind her. She shivered and shot Mr. Zion her most beseeching look then gave a slightly backwards motion with her head, hoping he could figure out something was going on behind her. Something not remotely kosher. She'd understood every word that was said this time. The boy sitting behind her wanted to... do disgusting things to her. She shuddered at the mental picture she had of the creep touching her. Just touching her, mind, but looking at her like he owned her. Like he could do whatever he wanted to her and no one could stop him. The idea terrified her.
Ideally, Mr. Zion would have been looking towards her and would have been able to figure out what the boy was saying by reading his lips. Or at least make a decent guess at it.
She really hoped she wouldn't have to sit near the creep all semester.

"In your territory? This murder did not take place near the sea but over a hundred miles inland. Surely a siren would remember such a trip as that, so far from the sea?"
He chuckled at her question, the sound dark and dangerous, almost humorless. "If you're asking if I am immune to your beauty, no. But I have no wish to touch one who might have killed my father. Or even one of her kind." He stood up, slowly stretching. Seeing movement in the water, he began to back up. He clicked the safety on his gun off once more.

((Sorry it took so long to get to this. I was pretty busy this weekend.
Do you prefer to choose the state they live in? I'm up to almost anything.))
Avery smiled at Raven before catching the look on her face, confused before he looked at the guy sitting behind her. He was known for being a trouble maker. Especially with his female classmates, though no one had ever complained about it before.
Coming to stand in front of his desk, Avery looked at his watch, pretending to make sure they had enough time left. "Great, we still have some time for something else, quickly. I know how you kids love sitting next to your friends or the like, but this year I'm changing it up. I'm going to get several of you to change desks. I'll pick out two at a time and the two will switch. Easy enough?"
There was no way in hell that Avery wanted the perverted kid sitting anywhere near Raven, age difference or not. He had already switched a couple of sets of kids around before picking the boy behind Raven, setting him to switch with a girl who had picked one of the back corners. That way, he couldn't see Raven and she couldn't hear him. Perfect, for now. He couldn't help with anything in other classrooms.
Once he had switched more around, he said, "Great. Now, these will be your permanent desks for the semester. Hopefully you will all make some new friends this way."

"Mortals mean nothing to us. No sane siren has ever traveled that far on your land." Kahea gave a small sigh, glancing out towards the waters where a few dozen of her clan were hiding, waiting for her to give them a signal to tell them she was in need of their help.
Kahea tried to ignore the fact that the man had started fumbling with his weapon again. She wasn't sure of what it could do, but she knew it was something of a small cannon. "I assume you have been looking for this siren a while now, no? Don't you get tired of it? I thought you humans were more selfishly based. Not the type to seek vengeance for another's pain. Well, I can be the one to tell you that you should give up. It's not worth it. There are more sirens then there will ever be humans. It could be anyone."
Stupidly, a few of the sirens had started circling closer in the water towards her than she would have liked. She caught a glimpse of her mate, one of the few male sirens in her clans, and she hissed, not daring to speak to them in case the human saw them, creating chaos.

I'm most familiar with North Carolina as I've lived here all my life, but I'm also somewhat familiar with South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Nebraska, and Montana.))
Despite the rude jerk behind her, Raven's heart sped up at the sight of Avery's, that is, Mr. Zion's, smile, her body heating under his gaze, brief though it was. She'd never reacted to anyone like this before; it felt strange, but not unpleasantly so. It just felt... right, somehow.
She breathed a sigh of relief as he asked the boy to switch seats. She didn't even care who he was switched with, just so long as he wasn't there, so close behind her. She smiled gratefully up at her far-too-attractive teacher. Yes, remember that. He is your teacher, not a potential boyfriend.
I hate that. I want him to be my, what, lover? boyfriend? something else? I just want him. I want to be in his arms, in his bed. In his life.
I am so screwed. He's my teacher! I can't have any of that! She vaguely heard him say something about new friends, but then the bell rang. She took her schedule back out to look at it. "English? Oh, gees, where's that?" she muttered.
"I've got English next, too. Who's your teacher?" Raven looked up to see the girl who'd been moved to sit behind her, smiling questioningly at her.
"Thompson."
"Cool. Me too. I'll show you the way. If we hurry, we can get seats that aren't dead front."
Raven smiled and nodded, gathering her stuff and following the other girl out of the room. Before she walked out, though, she turned to smile at Mr. Zion over her shoulder.
((Skip to...? Lunch? After school? The next day?))

Drake cursed. Sane siren? So, what, he was looking for an insane one? A nut job? Just his luck.
"Five years. The bitch killed my father, took him away from me when I was just thirteen. My mother hasn't been the same since. Anyone who causes that kind of pain deserves to be hunted down.
"I see your friends are back. With reinforcements. Smart. Now send them away or I will shoot you." He held his gun loosely, pointed down at the sand a foot or so in front of her. It would take a split second to lift it, aim, and fire. He never missed. "And I don't miss. Ever."
He couldn't actually see who - or what - was in the water not too far away, but he guessed it had to be more of her kind. Interesting that they would be so protective over others of their kind. He'd always heard sirens were more likely to be loners, living in small groups of three or four at most. There had been more than four others earlier. If they'd gone for reinforcements, just how many were out there now?
((I'm semi familiar with Tennessee, but pretty good with Nebraska. The rest I'd be really slow on.
I'll skip to after school...))
Avery left the main building of the high school, pulling out his keys to unlock his car. Luckily, he didn't have any parent-teacher meetings, but he had sort of wished that his former student of last year was around to give the regular piano lessons to. He had been allowed to teach that in after school hours, but this week the kid he had taught last year had dropped out on him.
He unlocked his car before stopping, remembering Raven. Maybe she would like lessons. Maybe she already knew how to play. He didn't know, but he was aware that he shouldn't wish that. It was dumb, thinking about her. He strangely had only seen her a couple times after the first class, but only briefly. Not enough to ask her how her day had been going.
Avery closed the door of his car, walking back to the campus to find her and ask her. It wasn't wrong to check up on her, right? Besides, they had told him to keep an eye on her.
^_^_^_^
"Sounds like you really want to find this so-called siren. Obviously for a long time, as well. Say you need help. I'll call off my family, you'll put your weapon away, and a couple of us will help you." Kahea murmured something quiet, but it was enough to make all but her mate, who was overprotective of her, unfortunately.
"If this siren is as stupidly psychotic as you claim, though I doubt it, we need to be rid of it, or we will run into more trouble with your kind, or worse. We hunt it down, together, and you leave us be. What do you think of that?"
It was a longshot, Kahea knew, but she couldn't rick dying. Her life was too important to her and her clan.

Raven's new friend, Ginger, the girl who'd walked her to English, and who she had almost every class with, stood by her locker as she fought to open it. The lockers had apparently been painted over the summer and this one didn't want to open. She finally got fed up and kicked it. Ginger laughed loudly as it sprung open, nearly hitting Raven right in the face. Once Raven got over her shock, she started laughing too.
"So, you actually gonna go visit Mr. Zion like we talked about at lunch?"
Raven blushed. "Shh, not so loud," she said, looking around to see the hall had emptied out almost completely while she fought her locker. "I don't know, maybe." Near the end of lunch, the other girl had finally gotten Raven to admit she had a crush on their history teacher. She'd even told the girl her secret, but had made her pinkie swear not to tell anyone first. "It's not like anything can happen anyway. I mean, he is my teacher." She sighed deeply, not for the first time today over this same matter.
"There are other history classes you might could switch to, but I don't think there are any other first period ones," she said, giving a small shrug. "Huh. Speak of the devil," she murmured. "Good luck." She backed up a few steps before speaking again, louder than before, "See you tomorrow, Raven. Oh, hi, Mr. Zion. I was just leaving. 'Bye." Then she turned and left.
Raven felt her face grow warmer. She turned to see Avery - Mr. Zion, she reminded herself mentally yet again - walking down the hall towards her. Or at least it looked like he was heading towards her.
She would be really mad if Miss Donna - the office assistant and her mother's best friend from high school - had told anyone about all that she'd gone through last year, or her age. She had said something about talking to her teachers about her, but had promised she hadn't given away anything. So, what had she said??
~*~*~*~*~*~
Drake clicked the safety back on, and even holstered the weapon. "I thank you. No other of your kind has ever made such an offer." What he didn't mention was that none of her kind had even tried to talk to him before, at least not about anything other than sex. It had always just been seduction with no other subject in sight.
"If I do accept your help, and we do find this supposedly insane siren, then I will leave your kind alone. But not until she is found and disposed of." He would make no secret of his plan to kill the siren who killed his father. And if she knows of this from the outset, she shouldn't get upset when the time comes.
((It's shorter than I would like but people are starting to arrive for D&D Encounters, so I need to get off the computer.))
Avery gave a nod to the other girl as she was leaving. "Goodbye, Ginger," he said to her before turning to Raven. His mind blanked for a moment, trying to remember why he had come to bother her. God, it had been a mistake. She was too beautiful. He didn't need to be around her anymore than for the class. That he taught. That she was a student in.
Bad, bad idea. His stupid mouth chose to speak to her anyway. He was sure he looked stupidly flustered as he said, "I was just coming to ask you how your first day had been. Here, I mean." He gave a small cough and a smile.
Yup. He was doomed. Just for speaking to her, she bet. The other teachers; the principal... they all had eyes on the backs of their heads, and somehow, even though he hadn't done anything necessarily wrong, someone would turn him in for talking to her. Maybe he should just walk away. That would be better, right?
((Sorry that was shorter.))
^_^_^_^
Kahea nodded at him, not smiling or acting at all pleased with the deal. "Give me twenty of your human minutes. I'll be back. Do not use your weapon again, or this is off."
She needed time to talk with her mate, find her battle weapons and grab something appropriate enough to the humans that she could dress in once she drank the potion to rid her of her tail for a while.
As promised, twenty minutes later she reappeared in the same general area. Pulling a vial out of a small satchel she now had with her, she drank it. A few seconds later, the scales started to disperse along her tail, revealing human-like legs. She struggled to stand, having only used the potion once before. After finding her balance, she walked towards the human, frowning.
She remembered the ways the humans acted towards nudity and she sighed, pulling a green dress out of the satchel and begrudgingly dressing into it. There was a bow over her shoulder, with a quiver on one hip and a war axe on the other.
Walking within feet of the human, she stopped. "I have spoken to my Elders. They say we will most likely find help in seeking this siren along the coast of Oregon. Do you know where this is?"

Raven smiled shyly. If his reaction to her was anything to go by, he was as attracted to her as she was to him. Which would be totally awesome...If only he wasn't her teacher. "It went surprisingly well, actually. I made a friend as you saw. Ginger and I have all but last period together."
She turned and put all but one of her assigned textbooks into her locker. The final one - Precalculus - went back into her backpack. She chewed her lower lip nervously, debating saying something. She'd seen him leave, had actually watched him as he walked out of the school. "I, um, thought you left already," she said. She closed and relocked her locker, then looked at him questioningly.
Had he come back to talk to her? Just to ask how her day had gone? That didn't seem likely. "Oh! Goodness! Did Miss Donna put you up to this? I asked her not to say anything to anyone."
~*~*~*~*~*~
Drake nodded his agreement. He refastened the holster around his gun, securing it and effectively hiding it from view. He watched her leave, then stood and backed up to lean against the rocky cliff, his T-shirt still slung over his shoulder. He waited the twenty minutes, though not remotely patiently. Waiting was not fun, and patience was not a strength he possessed.
He watched her drink something, then stand up. He cursed softly. She was, without a doubt, the most beautiful, sexiest woman he had ever seen. His body reacted, despite his mind's protests. He had to adjust himself as she began to walk towards him. He'd managed to resist every other siren he'd ever came into contact with, but he had a feeling he wouldn't be able to resist her. Or try very hard even.
"Yeah," he said, nodding, grateful for the small distraction. She'd put on a dress but it had done nothing to dispel his lust. "The state border's about a hundred miles north of here, maybe a bit more. It'll take all of two or three hours in my truck."
((When I read the last paragraph I thought he had said "It'll take all of two or three weeks in my truck." Heh.
Anyway, I'll reply to these soon.))

She's chewing her lip... that's cute, Avery thought. What did she say? "Donna?" he murmured, his brow furrowing in thought. "She... oh, no. She didn't send me, I promise." He quirked an eyebrow at her question. "Why? Are you okay?"
Avery almost frowned but didn't. She had though he'd left already? Had she watched him? How come he hadn't noticed her? No, he already knew the answer. He'd been so immersed in his thoughts of her that he hadn't seen her. That was probably it.
Now thinking of it, he vaguely remembered the woman she'd spoken of, Donna, had been the one to tell him to keep an eye on her. Though he couldn't remember the exact reason why. He almost wanted to ask Raven, but he held back on it, waiting for her to answer his question.

When Kahea stared up at his face, she frowned momentarily. "You're quite... attractive for a human. It's a shame..." Not bothering to finish that sentence, she changed the subject.
A truck is... Kahea thought for a moment. Oh, yes. It's like an enclosed chariot without hippocampi. "To your chariot, then," she said. It was almost mocking, but, Kahea believing she had little to no capability of emotion, teasing was out of the question. Right? "My mate will be following the coastline to search for the siren in our waters." She honestly wished he hadn't chosen to help. As an alpha female, it was her job to protect her clan, including her mate, Jadis-mhaen. The best she could do to protect him now, though, was convince him to stay in his immortal form.
"My name is Kahea Selena. What is your given name?" she asked, following him to his 'truck'. "Unless you want me to continue calling you mortal or human." It felt dangerous to tell him her own name. He could, possibly, use it against her. Use it to wage a war with the eastern sirens. Or worse, the humans and the sirens.
