I am really excited to see how good this one is. Thanks for offering me to read it with you. And thanks for making the thread for us. :o)
I know! It looks so good! I had it recommended to me in the pick-me-a-winner challenge and it's one I didn't get to! I heard it was amazing! I also thought it was on the YALSA nominees list for the top 10 a couple of years ago! So I'm really excited for it! And you're welcome! You're an awesome buddy! :D
I'd like to join too! I've never done a buddy read before though. Don't we pick out a certain amount of pages/chapter to be read in a time frame and discuss it?

Cheyenne, we decide on how many chapters/pages to read or just post any time you want to. Just make sure you tag your spoilers so you don't give away anything to the others reading with us. :D
Our awesome mods have a thread explaining how to tag spoilers and other things if you don't know how to do that already.
Here is the link!

Cheyenne, welcome to your first buddy read! I'm excited for you and happy to be a part of this experience with you! :)

Thanks Kathy! No, I already know how to do that but thanks. :) I'm really excited to read this with you, Vicki, and Trisha. I've had it for awhile but I haven't read it yet
I saw this book and was immediately interested in it. I'm pretty sure everyone has thought "What it would be like to stay in school over night." or somewhere along those lines. I think it will be a good one!
Vicki wrote: "Cheyenne, welcome to your first buddy read! I'm excited for you and happy to be a part of this experience with you! :)"Thanks Vicki! I can't wait to get started and hear your thoughts! :)

Yay! So excited you can join us! It looks really good!!
And since you mentioned that thought 'what it would be like to spend the night at school.' My kids have done that before! As a reading incentive in 3rd and 4rd grades if they finished and turned in their reading logs for the year they got to have a sleepover at the school they went to!
They loved it! They stayed up all night playing the Wii with their friends and teachers! They sang karaoke while the teachers were the judges! Have pancakes the next morning! It's how I got them to read books! lol :D

A lot of kids lose interest in reading as they get older despite liking to when they were younger.
Oh my goodness! One of our students hit a transformer during lunch and now we have NO electricity, bells, phones. etc. but we have to stay! Ugh...
Vicki wrote: "Oh my goodness! One of our students hit a transformer during lunch and now we have NO electricity, bells, phones. etc. but we have to stay! Ugh..."Wow! That sucks. Sorry. Do you know when it'll get fixed?
Cheyenne wrote: "Kathy wrote: "Cheyenne wrote: "Kathy wrote: "Cheyenne wrote: "I'd like to join too! I've never done a buddy read before though. He likes sci-fi like Hunger Games and Divergent, but he also likes fantasy like The Ranger's Apprentice and The Last Apprentice which inspired the movie The Seventh Son.
My daughter doesn't like mushy romance...mostly, she's 13. She like Beautiful Creatures (hated the movie!) and I'm trying to get her to read Cinder! :D
Vicki wrote: "Oh my goodness! One of our students hit a transformer during lunch and now we have NO electricity, bells, phones. etc. but we have to stay! Ugh..."Vicki, that's awful! I hope nobody was hurt and I hope you guys get power back soon, but school is almost out, right? That really sucks!
Kathy wrote: "Cheyenne wrote: "Kathy wrote: "Cheyenne wrote: "Kathy wrote: "Cheyenne wrote: "I'd like to join too! I've never done a buddy read before though. Don't we pick out a certain amount of pages/chapter ..."Ah. I haven't read Beautiful Creatures or seen the movie, but the book summary didn't really appeal to me. I love romance, I can find a couple or three to love in anything, but I need something other then romance in the book. Otherwise I just lose interest.
For instance, I have a really nice copy of Emma by Jane Austen that I bought but I haven't read it because it's all romance. I'm afraid that if I start and then stop I won't pick it up again.
I'm definitely interested in reading classics though. I think it's just one of those things that everyone should do. Like watching Titanic or Old Yeller.
I haven't read Emma, but I did see the movie. It's not my favorite that would Pride and Prejudice! Love Titanic and Old Yeller, cried with both! Have you read
A no romance spy book set in WW II France and it's so good!
I know that question was not meant for me but I have not read that book yet, Kathy! I always feel like I am the last one to read everything. LOL

I always cry when I watch Old Yeller too! I would like to read the book version of it.
And no I haven't read
but it is on my to-read list. It sounds really good. And I feel the same way Vicki! I usually am though lol
Cheyenne, I could give you a run for your money! Lol Maybe we can buddy read it soon, but not in February! Lol
Vicki wrote: "Cheyenne, I could give you a run for your money! Lol Maybe we can buddy read it soon, but not in February! Lol"Lol Maybe :) But no, definitely not in the foreseeable future. lol
Vicki wrote: "I know that question was not meant for me but I have not read that book yet, Kathy! I always feel like I am the last one to read everything. LOL"I feel that way about some books! The Harry Potter series is one of them! People are always so surprised when I tell them that I haven't read them yet! lol! :D

It is really good and the companion
is just as amazing! And they are great books for buddy reads and make awesome discussions! Definitely must reads! :D
alright, I'm starting this one but headed to bed. I'll update in the morning!! I can't wait! I think this one will be GOOD!
I like the short chapters. Lol I like that it's told from Scotty's (male) POV and how he talks to the reader. That usually makes it more personal, but not always.James Patterson pulls off talking to the reader with such skill that I really feel like I'm being talked to!
BTW Kathy, we only have 2 to go in that series. When are we going to do it? Lol
Are you guys reading ebooks or paper?I have a paper book and I love that the pages are printed with snow! It really adds to the story!
Oh yeah!!! Mine too!! It adds an extra touch right? (view spoiler) It's too early to have any guesses.
Finished, but I'll comment later. I gave it a 2 because I just couldn't decide to give it a 3. It was okay, but I wasn't that impressed. Hope you two enjoy it more than I did, but I didn't hate it.
10 chapters inI'll be done soon and we can chat :)
did you notice, with each chapter, the snow is climbing up the page? I think that's kind of cool
Yikes, 2 stars?? I hope I like it more
rescue (view spoiler) but what I really think is so startlingly real is that NONE OF THE KIDS SEEM TO HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT TO DO!!! Ugh, kills me. Without their phones, the kids just seem lost.....
and seriously (view spoiler)
Okay, I'm doneand honestly, I would post some major comments on this thread about this book (view spoiler)
At least we agree. I always wonder what's wrong with me when someone puts 1 or 2 stars and I have 4. But with this book, like you said, (view spoiler)
Sorry I haven't started yet. We went to see Divergent tonight! It was so good!
I will start tomorrow with breakfast! :D
No worries. You know, if you are behind - this is probably the first book I'd tell you to skip if you want. neither Vicki nor I really liked it :(
Oh! Thanks guys! The movie was really good! We had an awesome time!
I saw you guys didn't like it very much! I'm not sure what I will do yet. I will have to think on it! :D
Sorry, I haven't started yet either. I've been sick and busy with school so I've really just been sleeping in my spare time. I'm starting to feel a little better though.
Kathy, it's just that it had no real action in my opinion. But I remember giving a book a 4 that you gave a 1, so you might like it better.
Cheyenne wrote: "Sorry, I haven't started yet either. I've been sick and busy with school so I've really just been sleeping in my spare time. I'm starting to feel a little better though."
Oh no Cheyenne! I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well!
No worries, start when you can! Get better soon!
Vicki wrote: "Kathy, it's just that it had no real action in my opinion. But I remember giving a book a 4 that you gave a 1, so you might like it better."Yeah, I may just read this one because I don't want to have to look for another one and I already have this one! :D

That's ok Cheyenne. I haven't started yet either.
Hope you feel better soon. :D
