Following the merge of these author profiles I have a question. One of the profiles had the name in Latin alphabet, the other had the name in Latin alphabet plus in Arabic. After the merge there is no Arabic profile, so this book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... now has his name in Latin alphabet listed twice. Shouldn't one of the profiles have listed his name in Arabic?

Most of the books were not on both profiles, which is why I merged. Yes, any books in Arabic should have the Arabic name added as secondary author.

lethe | 16359 comments I now see that the duplicate name was from a previous profile merge(?) in August 2014, so nothing to do with this merge, sorry.

I have added the name in Arabic (took it from the changelog), but there is no way I can make the translator credit go to the appropriate place before or behind the translator's name. Tried to add the role in English instead, didn't work either.

Is this a known issue? Can something be done about it?

If you mean the fact that the system has trouble with left-to-right and right-to-left languages on the same line, it's a known issue but one that is very hard to deal with.

lethe | 16359 comments That was what I meant. Thanks.

Kerry | 39 comments I noticed that Taghreed Najjar has two profiles, one includes her arabic name and is her GRauthor profile and lists only one book but the other profile lists all her works.

Maybe someone has worked on it. The second link is not linking to an author profile.

lethe | 16359 comments Yes, the GR profile is (now?) Taghreed Najjar: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

and the Arabic profile has 23 books: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

All the books on the Arabic profile should have Taghreed Najjar as primary author though, and تغريد النجار as secondary author.

Arenda | 26447 comments Added Taghreed Najjar to all books as primary author. All books are on the GR author profile.

Both profiles should be kept. Books in Arabic should have the Arabic author as a secondary author.

Kerry | 39 comments Thanks, I wasn't sure how to tackle this and prefer a more experience GR Librarian to fix.

Racheli Zusiman (racheli_z) | 14 comments Hi,
I'm tackling a similar problem:
There's an author profile in english (galila ron-feder-amit) with several books, and another profile for the same author but under her hebrew name. There are different books on each profile.
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

What do I do?
Should I have her English name on all books as primary author and hebrew name as secondary author?
Do I need to do anything else?
Thanks, Racheli.

Yes.
You can include a link to the other author profile in the "About the author" section.
