Gretchen (gdelao) | 1 comments My name is Gretchen de la O, I am the author of the Wilson Mooney Series. I went to my page today and noticed I had 2 copies of the same 2 books (Eighteen at Last and Beyond Eighteen). Both sets of books had reviews on them. I also noticed a book I am in the process of writing, but didn't announce to the world that I am publishing, on my Goodreads page. And finally, I had an illustrator labeled on my first book (Almost Eighteen) that needed to be removed. So I approached a librarian and asked her to. 1. remove the illustrator, because I had new covers and the person that was labeled had nothing to do with the new covers,(FYI-I posted several times asking for help in the librarian box, but it was never handled). 2. remove or combine the double listing of my books,(that are the same). And 3. Remove a book I NEVER gave anyone permission to list on Goodreads. She got in trouble for doing what I asked. A Monitor told her she can't delete books from Goodreads once they are up, and now because of this, she is being monitored herself. My issue is this... how can Goodreads take a book, I haven't written and never gave them permission to catalog and put it up on the site? This can't be legal. I want someone to explain to me...where the line is? At what point do we say enough? I would like to see where it states that Goodreads has a right to announce my work before I've even had a chance to finish writing it?

I look forward to your response.

I am not certain what you mean by "the librarian box", but you do not appear to have ever posted in the Librarians Group. That is the best place to ask for assistance with book records.

Goodreads policy is to keep all published covers on the site, as users want to shelve the cover of the copy they have. Instead, we add an alternate-cover edition. See http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1... and http://www.goodreads.com/help/show/85.... As the author, you have the ability to change which edition of the book is the default, which will come up in searches by title and show on your author profile. Here's how: http://www.goodreads.com/help/show/31...

Goodreads also does not delete out-of-print books. Please see http://www.goodreads.com/help/show/22... and http://www.goodreads.com/help/show/32...

There was no discussion of a not-yet-written book. Which one would that be?
