Nobody | 4 comments This is probably a short story that I read quite a number of years ago. In it a gargoyle comes to life as a beautiful woman, meets & marries a mortal human man. They have a child. The man is required to never look at her under certain circumstances but one time he does, with disasterous results. Need a title/author.

Sam Esmeralda | 34 comments There are three possibilities that come to mind. Oddly, I saw both as a film and never actually in book form.
1. If she has to kill him in the end it would mean the movie Tales From the Darkside was also sold as a book. To confirm it, use Tales From the Darkside and Lover's Vow on a Google search. You should at least be able to find a part of the video version.
2. If she lets him live at the end, it could be the original tale Lover's Vow was based on. It was based on a Japanese folktale 'The Woman Of The Snow', and you can find information on that here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kwaidan...
3. There was another film I remember that might or might not have had a book equivalent. Likely based on the same folktale. Man finds or saves a woman, they fall in love. She tells him the sun can never touch her skin or some such. They are happy. Sun happens, and she either tells him leave the room or turn away. I think he didn't. She changes into a gargoyle, and has to leave. Ends with him searching for her, calling her, but she is stone and cannot go to him. If this is the one you are thinking of let me know. I do not yet know the titles, but presently am trying to find it on another site like this for films, and if I do I will get back to you here and tell you all the info I can find.
