I like GM's book, but this one has problems.

In this book GM subordinated his judgement to gather more evidence in support of his thesis, that sometime "More is Less". Sometime it is. But life is not that simple. Chapter 8 on 'Three strikes, and you are out' is totally wrong. Law failed not because it was to strict, but because what we voted for was : "Keep the violent recidivists off the streets". What we got was having people getting "Life' for being caught smoking
pot three time. It was a felony, right? Such law was not a legitimate law (as most of us know today). He, MG, did made an ass of himself several times in this book. Some chapters were excellent, e.g. David and Goliath, but his credibility suffered in my eyes. I gave it ** only.

I had a similar response to the "Three Strikes" chapter but the rest of the book really hit me hard in a positive way.

I find Gladwell's David and Goliath fodder for deeper discussion and application in life. It certainly requires that we examine our world today in a completely different paradigm….and that's good.

In the book Data and Goliath(coincidentally enough) the 'three strikes'law was talked about in the same manner. These 'gems' of information may just be propagated enough to be plucked seemingly blindly at times given the number of sources misinforming. That is not to say that it is justifiable yet the positive message of the book still weighs much more than these little hiccups.
