Not all dystopias fall into the realm of science fiction.
Synopsis:
Blu Jay Byrd, a Hearing child of Deaf adults, balances on a tightwire stretched between the world of the Hearing and the world of the Deaf. As the weight of life’s events accumulate, the wire’s ultimate tensile strength is tested. Growing up as an outsider, surviving the Marines, entering into a loveless marriage, and fighting against the loss of his son can make him or break him. His experiences might not be the same as ours, but their humanity will resonate with us all.
The draft is about 60,000 words. I'm interested in gut reactions, mistakes and inconsistencies, and suggestions about any holes in the story which need "filling in."
I can it out in .doc or .odt, though I could probably figure out how to convert it to .pdf if that better meets your needs. Let me know your preference and your approximate time frame.
